Strange Cosmic Ray Hotspots Stalking Southern Skies! "New Scientist"

Forgive my ignorance, but is our solar system ascending or descending into the cosmic plain (the 24,000 year cycle). If descending, then could that explain the source of the rays?!

The thing is, these types of highly energetic events can be seen for thousands of light years away. However the cosmic rays being studied are interacting with our atmosphere in a behavior that, according to our theories, shouldn't happen unless they were extremely close. If they are coming from many light years away, they "should" be appearing in a random scattered pattern, like the haze from a flash light very far away. Powerful magnetic fields which permeate interstellar space, and our own solar system "should" have scattered them, but instead they appear highly coherent and oriented along uniform trajectories.

This has me thinking about something quite profound...highly coherent and orientated along uniform trajectories *screams* one thing to me...

Intelligent and deliberate *communications*.

Most interstellar communications theories usually revolve around radio or laser based...what if the civilisation trying to communicate have based their communications strategy upon particles that we call 'cosmic rays'?

What if they hypothesise that any intelligent civilisation that might discover their signal would surely recognise it as a communication attempt, rather than random and scattered, but natural emissions from sources like supernovae and so on, simply because they are so highly coherent and uniform and totally distinct to natural rays?!

We assume the same thing of any potential ET that may pick up on our relatively crude attempts, but using radio waves instead of cosmic rays.

It's entirely possible that this is an (or more than one) ET species trying to get our attention.
