Razz123 can't be a real person. No way.

I for one would be ultra pissed if my local and national news feeds were clogged up with numerous reports about TRAINING exercises, which probably number in the hundreds every year.

Why do think Razz123 is not real?

This particular exercise is a bit more than usual. There is a lot of worrisome activity there with major flooding and blasting near the fault. I'm hopeing it's just a coincidence that FEMA is having a New Madrid earthquake exercise during all of this. At least people were put on notice.

"Lunch is provided'??? Provided by who? Big Brother?

What is that, some sort of socialist plot to distribute noon-time nourishment?

We do understand the bad rap...and it is deserved for sure for TPTB for failing in Katrina. But, its us the responders that want to do this, and train, and certify and practice scenarios. And its because even in these disasters and possibly injuries to ourselves...we want to do this. We feel the need to represent, help, assure, and direct those others in times of need.
...

Still...we get it that they may feel the way they do. Its just that a lot of that flack is undeserving....

Yeah. My larger point is that I think a lot of that bad rap and paranoia is perpetuated by the private interests who stand to profit off of disaster scenarios. "Privatize FEMA", they'll say. "It doesn't work" Of course, it doesnt work because it's been intentionally mismanaged. I'm sure Haliburton would love those contracts, and could turn a snappy profit off of the next major us disaster.

And I wouldnt be surprised if the stuff bout how FEMA is some big, evil entity being perpetuated here isn't just residual effects of that anti-FEMA meme from private Corporate interests, but actual proactive messaging on their part.

I cant help but wonder if these folks (this thread) actually too the time to volunteer for something like this, to be a representative in their community, if they would begin to understand reality a bit more.
