So, in the last year, we've had...

- one of the coldest winters in US history (I recall, posting myself in someone else' thread that a city in Oklahoma recorded its coldest temp on record, since record keeping began, by 3' whole degrees!)

- already off to one of the driest summers on record - where I live in Austin, TX, Lake Travis, our 'barometer' for how things are going, is already 60' below 'normal' levels, and this is a # normally discussed/worried about at the the end of August. Nevermind, the fact that Texas has also experienced RECORD wildfire activity - saw a stat on CNN two weeks ago that said 252 of 254 counties were on fire(!).

- More flooding along the Mississippi than I ever remember - from the gulf all the way up into the top states bordering Canada - and, they say expect more/worse over next 3 weeks before any relief.

- Tornados are off the charts - a few days ago, the report was '2nd worst outbreak' in our nation's history. How far off is this latest rash from the top spot?

1) Where are all my climate change hoax people? Do do they still exist?

2) What other anomalous weather/climate activity did I forget?

3) Is this similar to what other countries/continents are experiencing?

It most certainly is freaky.

I see no good reason to think that things will get better....just because, LOL!

Nope, I'm fairly certain that the disasters will just keep on piling up, until eventually civilization as we know it starts to crumble, and then MAD MAX!!

So get drunk, get laid, and enjoy the show while you still have a good view.

It's not as if the majority of people have a clue how to steer civilization onto a more sustainable path.

20% ?! Ya maybe, but it's just not enough.

Scrolling across CNN ticker, currently: "Record Temperatures seen as heat wave plagues 15 states."

Any bets as to [s]weather[/s], er... whether or not, this upcoming winter will also be producing record lows, again?

That number has now been increased to 28 states.

Hey, Phage... if you've made it over here yet (or, anyone) wanna wager that the upcoming [2011] winter will set more records? (in terms of coldest temps on record for US cities)

He won't.

(or maybe now he will :p )

anyways, just follow my above advice...

the financial system is mere months away from collapsing, and the arctic ice will likely deplete to such an extent that run away positive feed back mechanisms will cause the extinction of our species....relatively soon.

so yeah: have some fun

Things are getting pretty crazy. I live in Houston, Texas and we are seeing record high temps and record long droughts. I forget the exact numbers that were on the news a week or so ago, but it was roughly (give or take 10 days):
days since 1/4 inch of rain: 85
days since 1/2 inch of rain: 160
