Naked news arouses anger

www.eyewitnessnews.co.za

The international news programme features a female newsreader undressing as she reads the news.

According to FPI the programme reinforces the stereotype that women are sex objects.

This is the first time this type of news will be broadcast in my country, if it gets approved. I am sure there are members on here that knows about this "news" program, and can maybe give a little more info.

In the country that i live, the vast majority of people are still very conservative, and it is understandable that this type of news program will cause an uproar here.

I assume that this news will maybe be a late night programme instead of prime time. Although, i am not sure if i agree with this form of news reading.

A newsreader undressing while reading the news is pointless in my opinion, since most people will miss the actual news completely, and rather focus on the reader.

I do agree with the article, that this just reinforces the stereotype that woman are sex objects.

Your thoughts on this?

I've heard of this program before, though I'm not sure if it's available in my area (southeastern US).

To be frank, as an adult male who very much enjoys looking at the nude female form... I don't get it.

There's absolutely nothing sexual about it, there's really nothing enticing about it, and I don't think there's any informative benefit to watching the news being delivered by a nude person as opposed to a clothed person. I honestly can't believe the program still exists, because I can only imagine a few scenarios where someone would actually watch it:

Nudists who would feel more comfortable watching nude people deliver the news (I feel like this would be the main group).

Children who are still excited to the naked female form (but they wouldn't be able to pay for it).

Chronic masturbators who can't divert their attention from pornography long enough to get a grasp on what is happening in the world around them.

Other than these very specific scenarios, who is this program meant for? If you're looking for sexual stimulation, there must be a million other avenues to seek it besides the news (unless this is some bizarre fetish I'm not aware of). If you just want to watch the news, why would you pay extra to see naked people do it?

so were are we?

women are sex objects for men as men as sex objects for women. and double double for those that swing the other way.

The Romans kept their slaves naked too.

This is about the future of our children,
and what they will have to do
to "make it" or perish.

Typical feminist crap. If women were so insulted about being so called "sex objects", then they wouldn't be doing what they do. Women willingly put themselves in these situation, and are being paid for it.

Nobody is forcing women to report the news naked, or have sex on film, or wear revealing clothing at Hooters, etc. If a woman doesn't want to be looked at as a sex object, then it's their job as an INDIVIDUAL to not behave like one.

It's not just women that report the news for this program naked. Men do as well. Men also have sex on film, model in revealing clothing, etc. We aren't looked at as sex objects.

This is a blatant double standard, and the reason nobody will take feminists seriously. Ever.

Naked news arouses something but it's not anger.

Of course women are sex objects as are men to women, that's what keeps our species alive, and is natural as can be. Why fight that? As long as no one is hurt (unless they want to be
) and participants are willing they should be able to do what we want.

There is a reason why we are sexually attracted to the opposite gender (sometimes our own) is because evolution has progammed it into our genes. Nothing will attract us as much as a half or fully naked attractive individual, even a member of our own sex.

Stop denying nature, it will win.

Most of you seem to be missing the point guys.

This is about young kids being exposed to nudity. Not about mature men watching the news for some fun.

Well in that case, it ISN'T about nudity, it is about parenting and adult supervision...

I believe Naked News is a Pay-Per-View program, or a subscription channel... Definitely not basic cable.

The only way children would be exposed to it is if the parents allow them to watch it.

I don't think we should treat the human body with such hate... the only reason it objectifies women is because we say it does and we are told to treat it as such.

the naked body is a beautiful thing I think kids shouldn't be taught to feel uncomfortable because of nudity.

Remember back to when you were a young one? I would have done anything to see women naked. It is natural.

As a great ape before our "advancement" there was no clothes so nudity would have been the norm, it still is in most tribes. Europeans are much more free with nudity than us North Americans and there seems to be no major difference between them and us. (besides they are smarter-more atheists and evolutionists)

We are the only species that do no have sex in the open, if an aliens species were up in the sky watching us they would have no idea how we procreate. For some reason we think one of the most pleasurable things should be the most hidden, it's kind if funny when you think about it.

I would rather have my children see nudity (classy, no hustler or spread-eagle crap) than the amount of violence in our media.

I'm angry about the violence.

I never really got the point of sheltering children from nudity. Perhaps we should raise them in a sterile white room until puberty and hopefully they will be able, or comfortable distinguishing a penis from a vagina?

There's a difference between showing somebody nudity, and showing somebody sex. I don't know about those conservative types out there, but I sure hope my future kids learn human anatomy on their own (just like I did) instead of getting some lame textbook explanation from their parents.

PS I saw the "naked news" when I was like 12, and it wasn't the first time I saw a pair of tits nor was it all the exciting compared to other things out there.

My...GOD

Children will learn that women have boobies! The horror

Perhaps you can scrub their minds by sitting them in front of a game console so they can spend 5 straight hours murdering people..

This has been around for YEARS...I remember watching it when I was like 15...it was GREAT!!! Now that's mainstream news worth watching! It's obviously meant to be a sexual type show. If you disagree with this, then you disagree with any type of pornography. Just because they are reading the news (in a humorous type of way) doesn't mean it's some how blasphemous. I'm sure men would do the exact same thing, but there probably wouldn't be enough women watching it.
