A giant asteroid will only just miss earth later this year, according to NASA.

The huge rock, dubbed YU55, will pass within 201,700 miles of our planet in November.

Greetings ATS! This is my first post. I"ve been a long time lurker and had no intent to post but this i thought was important, so here i am. the interesting part of this article to me was the fat it was in the UK, Ireland yahoo news. I could not find it in any US news articles. Great to be here and hope this is helpful.

When i signed on to the site i located the breaking news link and clicked on post. and here it is. Was it not supposed to? Sorry if it has been posted already as i become familiar with the site i should be able to clean up my posts. Thanks ATS!

Thank you for the tip! Having trouble navigating the site. This is the first site i've used since the late 90's sorry for the re post.

The best rule of thumb before posting is go to the "search" tab, and type in a few key words of the subject at hand. In this case I just typed in "asteroid" and all of the subjects posted with the word "asteroid" in the subject line popped up, some fairly new and some older. I check out the first two pages, and if nothing's found then it's safe to say that it's OK to post!

"comet" ELENIN is supposed to be around earth at that time.
