ok, so today, me and my girlfriend went shopping just for some food. She, as per, picks up a few magazines on the way round the shop. These things never have interested me, the glossy mags and all that. But I just checked the headlines on two of them infront of me now. Here they are -

Butchered For Unborn Baby
I Slept With MY Stalker
Raped By Dad As I Fought Cancer - He struck in my hospital bed
Eaten By A Shark As We Watched
Strangled At Birth
A Popstar Made My Man Knife Me
and some crap about weight lose

Now i asked her, why the hell would you want to read about such things? She couldn't answer me. She just sort of shrugged. Is it just me or are these mags the most disgusting form of media there is? Who wants to read about a girl being raped by her dad as she lies dying of cancer? Is it all a distraction from everyday life so that the population forget the real problems that go on in the world? Same with the Bin laden story, but thats another thread. What do you guys think, am I alone in thinking this?

Well at least with those magazines normally you expect them to be lies or a stretch of the truth. With Obama you never know what is the truth or not, just like any member of the government speaking!!!

We've been conditioned into finding comfort in the misfortune of others, I asked my wife the very same thing, and she answered "It makes me feel better about my own life and circumstances". I honestly don't understand it. Fear and misery seem to be a great seller.

its almost as like people these days would rather see someone worse of than them to make themselves happier, thats bad, for humans to want others to be at their lowest to make them feel better because their life is not the greatest is just so sad. I guess it just the way we have been socialised from children by the major MSM

Distraction is part of it. A bigger part of it is that a lot of people in the westernized world have been so successfully ruined by the media that ape filth is the only thing they can really identify with on an emotional, psychological, and intellectual level. Magazines like that are only a part of it. The rest of it lurks on television.
