Leon Panetta is the head of the CIA. Okay, CIA, as in al-CIA-duh.

Obama wanted to replace Panetta with Betray-us, sorry Petraeus, but Panetta didn't want any of it.

Panetta "went around the president" meaning he was in control of the Bin Laden psy-op, and then later told Obama they had killed Bin Laden. This gives Obama plausible deniability as to the whole operation being a psy-op.

So what does Petraeus have to do with this? Well it's obvious, Panetta is head of the CIA, was going to get replaced, so he wanted to do something real big to stay in power, like get Bin Laden. Obama was only 50-50 on whether or not Bin Laden was even there, which is believable because it is absurd to think Bin Laden was hiding out near a military base for 10 years.

My bet is this whole thing was done so Panetta could look like a hero, a "go getter" who even goes around the president if need be. Obama will go along with this and get the credit so long as he keeps Panetta at the CIA.

Secretary of Defense is a HIGHER position than Director of the CIA. Why would he be 'trying to stay in power' when he's effectively being promoted already?
