Personally I would imagine Groom Lake being at least the testing field if this thing does exist, 'Area 51' as its called as far as the regular public knows is used mainly as a testing ground for the Black projects conducted by the United States Government.

They are testing this in San Diego.

They say it's built in San Diego.

One just crashed in Afghanistan.

Northrop's MQ-8B Fire Scout,

Story

I know that doesn't answer OP's questions.

I wonder if this thing is stealth.

Since this was a Navy helo - I'd suspect testing was done @ China lake rather than Groom.

Looking at the pics found here: www.armytimes.com... I wonder how it was deployed. It has no value for insertion, and if armed, would at best be a bay mounted mini-gun. I'm guessing stealth recon?

Most certainly not. It's not even somewhat "low observable".

Go look at pics of a RAH-66 if you want to see what a stealthed helo looks like, as a general class.

/we got to design a chunk of the electro-optic target recognition system, then they killed it. Dammit.

Most of secret projects are part of compartmentalization so it would not be uncommon for a few hands to be in this cookie jar, and some or most of them not have a clue as to what there application will be used for.
