**CIA admits: Blackout during raid compound;(SEALS decided to kill OBL not Obama!)

The head of the CIA admitted yesterday that there was no live video footage of the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound as further doubts emerged about the US version of events.

Leon Panetta, director of the CIA, revealed there was a 25 minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off.

A photograph released by the White House appeared to show the President and his aides in the situation room watching the action as it unfolded. In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening in the compound.

In an interview with PBS, Mr Panetta said: "Once those teams went into the compound I can tell you that there was a time period of almost 20 or 25 minutes where we really didn't know just exactly what was going on. And there were some very tense moments as we were waiting for information.

"We had some observation of the approach there, but we did not have direct flow of information as to the actual conduct of the operation itself as they were going through the compound."

Mr Panetta also told the network that the US Navy Seals made the final decision to kill bin Laden rather than the president.

He said: "The authority here was to kill bin Laden. And obviously, under the rules of engagement, if he had in fact thrown up his hands, surrendered and didn't appear to be representing any kind of threat, then they were to capture him. But they had full authority to kill him.

"To be frank, I don't think he had a lot of time to say anything. It was a firefight going up that compound. And by the time they got to the third floor and found bin Laden, I think it - this was all split-second action on the part of the Seals."

That Seal or those Seals that are being flown back to the US for a Hero welcome-earned. However, they just better be careful of what they say. It may be used against them in a court of law.

I have a hard time to not believe that OBL was indeed found and killed during this operation, I do however have a very hard time understanding let alone have the belief the feed was blacked out, or there was a 25 min period with no contact. This would have spurred another injection of additional teams I would imagine... Im sure they just want the need for the freedom of information to go nowhere....

i know coming from somebody on ATS it's going to sound like the norm, but this all wreaks of BS. dna testing and burial at sea within 24hrs, and no pics released. haha man people are ignorant. what happened to questioning things that don't add up?

I was under the understanding from the very beginning that Obama gave the order to go in, not to specifically kill anyone. I also never heard Obama claim he gave the kill order. Is this right wing spin working overtime to beat up another straw man or did I miss something?

after they carefully reviewed the video evidence...they think it is likely that many would construe obls death as an execution rather than killed in a firefight...

so they need to make that video disappear...

Excellent find! And again, they may talk trash about conspiracy theories, but how could there not be when they are constantly caught in their own lies. If there were no conspiracy theories this world would be in Big trouble. When will people wake up and realize not to believe everything they see on TV or read? Isn't that an old saying or something?

I wanted to comment on the attitudes expressed about Obama.

As was made painfully clear to the world on 22 November 1963, any President of this country walks a thin line.

Obama, like most Presidents before him, is a man with a wife and a family. In spite of the fact that, by our standards, a man must make unacceptable compromises to ascend to the Presidency, there is always the chance, if not the certainty, that some glimmer of self-respect remains with such a being, along with some desire to work for higher goals than just winning the next election.

We all too easily dismiss Presidents as mere puppets. Yet they are also real people who have extraordinary access to the communication lines of the world.

We may never know the truth about Obama's deeper beliefs or motivations, yet we should not totally dismiss the possibility that he is, in his own way, acting on them.

Take his decision, for instance, to tour tornado damage and visit Cape Canaveral on a day when many had their attention on nothing but a royal wedding.

I would like to believe - I could be disastrously wrong - that he knows more than we give him credit for.

even if the feed were cut they wud record the mission locally so they still hav video evidence of the mission...anyway i just heard that from the photos leaked by a pakistani security guy...after examing them the total body count must be 5 (including 2 airlifts of osama and his dead son)...now the official body count is lesser.. i think the bush administration is better at cover up than the present one

Obama and his people have managed to turn a win in 2012 into a surefire loss. I've never seen anything like this.

They should have picked one story and stuck to it. At least more people would have had closure then.

According to "Ulsterman," who claims to have communication with a White House insider, it was Panetta who issued the order to kill Osama (or whoever it was). Releasing the story that the Seals made this decision on the spur of the moment is simply a ruse to conceal the fact that this operation was totally conceived and ORDERED by the CIA. From what Ulsterman says, Obama was reluctant to agree to it, constantly dithered and was called in only at the last moment from a game of golf to watch the fun after the decision was taken by Panetta, effectively, overruling his president:

Believe this or not. Personally, I find his revealing statement about the background to this operation very convincing.

What are you even talking about? I never heard Obama gave the kill order. They said from the beginning he sent the team in. Whether he was killed or captured was up to Osama and the seal team. So what was covered up there?
The helmet cams blacked out but the overhead drone with heat and nightvision was still on.
