just seen the pics of the raid on osama's hide out and saw the pic of the strange looking helicopter parts laying around so have been looking through photos to try and find out what helicopter it is what do you guys think it is

link

It was a secretly developed stealth helicopter, probably a highly modified version of an H-60 Blackhawk

I just saw that on another article!
The tail on the ground almost looks like the comanche but its too BIG!
Strange indeed because I was told it was a chinook. Thats why I was surprised because those birds can take a lot of pounding.

Now I really, really want to find a model kit for it.

Initial search, a Russian verison comes up....I see a Commanche RAH-66 by Italieri, though...on eBay...1/48 scale. (My preferred...either that, or 1/32 if available).

There is a great rendition of what the helicopter could have looked like on this website.
Pretty interesting!

Just flipped on Fox news and they're saying the US is telling Pakistan they want the tail back so it doesn't end up in the hands of the Chinese.

Of course, they kind of pissed the Pakistanis off with the whole raid and "How could you not know bin Ladin was there" thing.

Looks like China gets a new model of chopper sooner rather than later.

It does look stealth but then what do i know about that.

also it looks like it could be an unmanned aircraft.

but if you look at this illustration:

Worked on helicopter for 10 years and I can tell u this is some advanced stuff, I know on the bird I worked on, I wanna say the transmission was made of magnesium and if a bird went down we were told to use incendiary charges. Magnesium burns extremely hot which is why u only see the tail boom, t/r part left. We had birds go down and they burned for 3-4 days, the fire simply could not be put out.
