Someone can do the calculating of the km/h & mph the ships are travelling. Then compare it to our space shuttle's speed.

At the time of the discovery, the comet was about 647 million kilometers (401 million miles) from Earth. Over the past four-and-a-half months, the comet has – as comets do – closed the distance to Earth's vicinity as it makes its way closer to perihelion (its closest point to the sun). As of May 4, Elenin's distance is about 274 million kilometers (170 million miles).

Just because something is emitting a signal doesn't make it a UFO, I'm not sure why that dot is being connected..

that seems more plausible assuming they have the technology you said, but although can´t move a planet to the speed of light

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I mean we're supposedly trying to tap into the Moon's dark side for water so we can use it as a platform to move onto Mars/other places.. What a better way to bring your resources for water with you by tagging along a comet full of ice?

So what's the big deal? This must be a cluster of smaller rocks/debris which had broken off from the comet and following it which is nothing out of the ordinary. The only sensationalist statement made by that scientist was that perhaps it could be a UFO! Now that means he could be reading a lot of science fiction of late or perhaps a member of MUFON or some other crappy UFO organization to have influenced him to arrive at such a bizarre conclusion!!!

There's NOTHING mentioned in the Chinese National Space Administration web site. I couldn't find hair nor hide of this anywhere. Anyway, carry on......

Yes basically people are letting their imaginations run rampant on this one.. celestial bodies emit signals and that statement about a cluster behind the comet is not unusual .. so far there's no real story here or confirmation from anyone that it's anything other than natural phenomena

By your reckoning, any 'important information' or story should not be released on a particular day because its April 1st ( April fools day) in case it's treated as a joke?.
So should they either release it a day early or hold onto it till the 2nd so that would make it official and more believable?.

what i just answered is that is not about the original fools day joke, but an statement of another scientist confirming that a supposed joke about elenin is almost no joke but true, assuming he is not liying or making false statements.

you have to read that also before posting this is about a joke on april´s fools day, because it is easier to get out of an argument saying it was just a joke to everyone

besides we don´t have april´s fools, here it´s in november the innocent´s day and this statemente by this astronomer was made in MAY, and yes he knew about that april fools joke, but he decided to investigate although of that
