Obama took SIXTEEN HOURS to make up his mind about Bin Laden mission

www.dailymail.co.uk

Barack Obama kept military commanders hanging by declaring he would 'sleep on it' before taking 16 hours to give the go-ahead to raid Bin Laden's compound.
Hit squads of specialist Navy Seals - who were not even told who they were preparing to capture - had practised the mission at two reconstructions of the terror chiefs sprawling compound.
The mission looked set to be given the all clear last Thursday when analysts confirmed beyond doubt that Bin Laden was in busy town of Abbottabad in northern Pakistan.
But the president stunned officials when he told a national security meeting that

Obama made it sound like in his post-operation speech that upon confirmation of Osama's whereabouts, that he gave an immediate go ahead for the Special Warfare raid on the compound that housed Osama bin Laden.

What if, by chance, that during this time, Osama got word of the raid and fled once again. The American public has been waiting really more than ten years for this scumbag to be either captured or killed.

I know some will say that why should 16 hours matter when we waited this long. 16 hours is an extremely long time, especially when given the conditions and the magnitude of this mission.

We're very lucky that Osama, if in fact it was him, was killed in the raid. Lolly-dagging around with such an important decision as this, IMHO, is not the sign of a competent leader.

Let us hope he won't take 16 hours to decide to retaliate against a nuclear strike or some other horrible event.

It's definitely a big decision, though if I was president I would be tempted to just say GO! .. things to consider though are that the US had no permission to cross into Pakistan territory and take military action, that's a serious matter right there.. and not a decision you should really take lightly because there could be serious political ramifications to it.. ultimately it's probably best to weigh the situation very carefully before giving the go ahead.

This has ended up being a huge black eye for Pakistan and I'm sure they are not happy with the US for essentially invading their sovereign territory and then making them look bad.. Pakistan now has two options on the world stage, they either look stupid and incompetent for not knowing, or they look like they aided the most wanted man in the world .. neither of which fares well for them in the end.. considering they are supposed to be one of our biggest allies in the fight against terror, this decision really needed to be thought out I'd say.

The right choice was made, even if it was made later than we'd hope .. had we asked permission, I feel certain Pakistan would have tipped off bin laden because I have a hard time believing they are so stupid that they didn't know he was down the street.. now the cards are on the table and the tensions with Pakistan will escalate, both sides know they can't trust one another.

Oh, if only he'd gone in, guns blazing, more like George Bush!

I LOVE the fact that Obama is a pragmatic thinker, planning and analytical. I LOVE that he waited until he was absolutely sure that this operation would be successful before giving the orders. People can complain all they want about how he did this, but I will be forever grateful that he did this right and didn't repeat Jimmy Carter's Iran Hostage rescue attempt. Operation Eagle Claw

You can criticize Obama's actions all you want but it was a fantastic success.

I don't mind that happening. If, he was doing if for the right reasons.

I think it took him that long to try and figure out how he can get all the credit and political bucks from this.

funny how the White House is looking for bumps in Obamas poll numbers.

Naw, it wasn't political.

There's no indication Bin Laden had any idea this mission was about to go down, being that he was un-armed he was probably living in blissful ignorance, not even the troops who took part in the operation knew who they were going after until they got the green light, possibly not even until they were airborne .. I seriously doubt there was any risk to the mission over that 16 hour time frame.. I doubt Bin Laden would have been on the move, and I also am willing to bet that they had eyes on the ground monitoring this place leading up to the operation.. they probably wanted visual conformation that Bin Laden was really there to begin with and my guess is they never got it but took the risk .. Bin Laden sounds like he's not dared let himself be seen since he moved into that compound

Him being black means nothing ... however

I do get the same impression to the rest of what you said, people seem to be looking for any way possible to put negative spin .. a lot of people seem to be unwilling to even give him an an ounce of credit.. I see FB posts for example that say it wasn't Obama who killed Osama, it was a soldier.. and my response was factual, that is quite true! but the soldier got the order through chain of command and Obama is the one who gave that order, so I said without the order, Osama would be alive.. so everyone up that chain of command deserves credit for a successful operation.. my comment was deleted and I was unfriended..

he took 16 hours to make the decision, they're claiming the op went down on Sunday, which means that, during that 16 hours, he took a break from contemplating an action that could/would define his legacy and his presidency to write and perform at the White House Correspndent's dinner which was held on Saturday evening.
He sure doesn't seem like a man wrestling with any serious issues or decisions here

It's because he's black,

That's what I am being told for any deviation from the State Sponsored Message.

Apparently him being colored gives him some special immunity from review and question.

How dare we in this modern question anyone of color that has made it to a positon of promindence.

tisk tisk.

THANK you for that back tracking. Nail-on-HEAD.

Come on now BH! For crying out loud! Osamas whereabouts was known since August of last year. I do commend Obama for not blowing the compound to smithereens and a positive ID on the body wasn't possible, but when a plan was readied for the go ahead for the 'kill', there shpuld've been no hesitation.

He didn't put any trust in the military leaders he's suppose to command. He doesn't have any military training what-so-ever.

BH. I hate to say this but I really beleive you just like to argue, especailly with those yopu know who have opposing views with you, for the sake of arguing.

In some cases, hesitation on important decisions can mean the difference between life and death. The killing of Osama bin Laden was 90% luck from this new revlelation of Obama's hesitation to make a decision.

ANY good business man will tell you to "Sleep on ANY major decision".

Good work Obama.

GWB would have ordered mass airstrike campaign wiping out the whole village.

Just because I say it out loud, doesn't make it better than the deep inbedded racism / ignorance that is fueling all of the anti Obama crap.

Thanks for the offer / insult / childlike offer on the koolaid but......
I am not a fan of koolaid, I plan on having my teeth well into my 90's. That's if Obama doesn't destroy the planet with his....... hmmmm what exactly would he use? Since he is a Muslim that was born in Kenya, that can do NO right, maybe he is going to summon the 12 imam?

The only bad thing you can call Obama is Naive! He thought he could waltz into "good ol boy" Washington and stir up the pot.. the promises he made, he planned on keeping.

He didn't understand it would take 5000 pages and 50 hours of meetings and counsels to change the type of toilet paper the staff uses, let alone any meaningful changes.

Washington is like a concrete driveway that is destroyed.... You can patch it all you want, but for the real fix, it has to be ripped out and replaced. Period!

Just imagine, if you will, if George Bush had done what Obama just did... Just take a moment to imagine the ticker-tape parades, fireworks, parties and HUGE amounts of praise that would have been heaped on him as our wonderful Commander-In-Chief.

I can only imagine...

But instead, people are criticizing Obama for doing a PERFECT job!
It's really funny! He and our military did something AMAZING! And yet the sour grapes run like a river! "He should have done it differently." "He had nothing to do with it." "He waited too long." "He didn't wait long enough."

It's really comical! Jon Stewart

I LOVE that he waited until he was absolutely sure that this operation would be successful before giving the orders.

And with that, you won another cup of the Obama Cool-aide.

Anyone knowing anything about operations of this type etc knows that there is no for sure results. Not when Guns/Jiadist and Military involved.

Everyone of that team could have been killed or captured.

It's not a game B.H. I really wish you and the alike would wake up to that fact.

We are questions and ripping these fake news info apart because it is FOR REAL. Not some opportuinity for you to gather a few stars by trying to make people think this is some version of Call of Duty or an episode of the WEST Wing.

Honest to Pete.

What in the world are you drinking, with that thought process????... You hammer the importance and seriousness of it, at the same time criticizing his patience and need to ponder the upcoming events..

So he should have whipped off his cow boy hat, yelled something inspiring and just yelled GO, GO, GO!!!

Really, that's what he should have done?

People make me sick....
