Call me crazy but I think reinstalling Saddam as Iraq's ruler would be the perfect solution for the US right now. Let's destroy any possible infrastructure that may be used to develop weapons and let him loose.

Saddam would lynch the two-bit terrorists running free in his country, order is restored, oil is running and most importantly we can withdraw our troops and save a bundle of $$$. By the time he rebuilds and possibly becomes a threat I dare say he will be on his death bed. His psychotic son's are long gone and we can covertly install who we want and possibly setup democratic elections then.

We invavded this country as part of the war on terror and it is clear now Saddam is no terrorist threat to the US so why not? Only downside I can see is for the big companies rebuilding who are milking the US taxpayer for all they are worth. I don't own shares in these companies so I can live with that.

Since we found no WMD's, the excuse for the war is the removal of Saddam Hussein as a dictator. If the US were to restore power to him, it would end the last possible justification for the war in iraq. Therefore, it will never happen.

Tripnastic yes Bush would have to admit to his mistakes for this plan to go ahead but I see this as a plus to him getting re-elected. The country would embrace him if he came clean and Kerry wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Picture Bush surrounded by troops and their re-united families at election time all made possible by a humble President asking for forgiveness. He can blame the bad intel but state he is man enough to step forward and say no more and do what's best for his country and its people. He can give a huge cash payout to those who served in the war and to those families who lost loved ones....hell declare them tax exempt, free college for their kids and let them build casinos on their properties! And the US can finally move on with defeating Al Quaeda confident in the knowledge Iraq is not a threat.

Well I guess the Iraqi people may be a little pissed but they don't pay taxes to the US or vote so what the hell.

mrdependable,

I will not call you crazy because right now US can not control Iraq and neither the US government establish right now, it seems that only Sadam was able to do that.

Ok...

Before Saddam came to power:

1. Iraq was a peace-loving democracy
2. There was another dictator
3. Iraq was ruled by Santa and his elves.

In Iraq, the population:

1. Is homogenous and gets along peacefully
2. Is a mishmash of ethnicity, religion, and tribes who've been at war for
centuries
3. loves Snickers bars

Democracy is unknown in Iraq:

1. because Saddam was mean.
2. but now the US is bringing that gift to the people.
3. because violent environments inevitably generate hierarchies of power culminating in dictatorship.
4. because Iraqis are dumb and never thought of it

The new government of Iraq:

1. Will be a peace-loving democracy that agrees with the US and Israel
2. Will be a dictatorship much like Saddam, but whose methods are ignored by the US government because he's 'our' dictator.
3. Iraq will become the 51st US state.
