JAKARTA, April 29 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Indonesian police will question a cameraman of the Doha- based Al Jazeera television network over a planned bombing of a cathedral on a suburb near Jakarta, an officer said Friday.
National Police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar told reporters that Bobby Gunawan, an Indonesian cameraman of the Jakarta bureau of Al Jazeera English channel, had "several meetings" with terrorist suspect Imam Firdaus.
Firdaus allegedly offered Firdaus during the meetings video footage of the bombing of Christ Cathedral in Tangerang, near Jakarta, if it was realized.
Gunawan refused the offer but did not report the planned bombing to police, Amar said.
Asked whether Gunawan will be declared a suspect, Amar replied, "He will be questioned as a witness, but we'll see later how things develop."
Step Vaessen, Al Jazeera English Bureau chief in Jakarta, refused to comment. An Al Jazeera staff member said a press statement will be released.
