It's official, the courts have FINALLY seen what was blatently obvious to most of us all along. That Ian Thomlinson DID die from injuries, sustained from a baton strike and a hard push to the ground, inflicted on him by PC Simon Harwood. The Thomlinson family are a long way off from seeing justice done, but this is a very important step in the right direction. How can they not charge him now? after this!

Fantastic news.

edit to add another link, this is a timeline of the case today.

Great news, just when you think its going to be a white wash, he gets the just verdict. Hopefully now he will be charged for manslaughter, just like any member of the general public would have been.
Good on the jury for coming to the right decision.

After watching the vidio of this. He was murdered with out a doubt. Im glad that the copper is going to face justice and its about time other police men joined him. One police officer who was recently jailed for injuring a woman in the cells. Was released on appeal, the judge said it was her fault for holding onto the door, as she was dragged and thrown into a cell. Her crime? she was asleep in her car. Drunk. Thats not a crime.
Lets hope he gets a good sentance for this crime.

Good News there. S & F

Lets hope this sends a message out to the police that they won't get away with Murder. However, it will lightly only serve to make them more careful not to get caught on camera.

The police force seriously need to re-train their PC's, and change there attitudes, so that the words "Professional" and "keeping the peace" actually means something.

And since when did "Maintaining order" = murdering innocent people at the tax payers expense.

Just seen the TV news report on this and there is also footage of the same Police officer knocking over a BBC Cameraman minutes before Tomlinson. I had never seen that footage before. The police officer looked like he was out for a ruck all day. This man should not be allowed to wear a uniform again.

This is good news... I'm glad this is now open to bring charges against the copper..

Abuse of power is exactly what it is..

Bit of a shame that this may be slightly shrouded by the Osama news otherwise this may have had a bit more impact on the UK's populace..

Perhaps there are many things that are tying in rather nicely for certain people..

Well he has now officially been sacked by the police. How ever he has been allowed to keep his pension. Lets hope that the family get the chance of taking him back to court. This is just more evidence that the police force needs to be investigated. The miners strikes, Hilsborough and Im sure there are many more cases that need reopened and properly investigated. Best of luck to the Tomlinson family in their endeavours to find justice for the murder of Ian.
