Shauket Aziz is a banker, and currently the finance minister, and was key in saving Pakistan's economy after 1988 sanctions were imposed for Pakistan's nuclear development program. Aziz only needs to win a parliament seat before he can take over as the new prime minister. The attack came as Aziz was leaving a campaign election meeting.
