Shauket Aziz, who is currently an
international banker, and is Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf's choice to be the next prime minister, escaped another attempt on his life. A
suicide bomber killed 6 and injured 22 others in an attempt to assassinate Aziz. Aziz escaped the attempt unharmed.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- President Pervez Musharraf's hand-picked choice to become Pakistan's next prime minister, Shauket Aziz, has survived two
blasts -- one a suicide bombing -- that killed six people and injured 22 others.
"Thank God the senior minister is safe. We are investigating the incident," Pakistan's Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat said after Friday's

Shauket Aziz is a banker, and currently the finance minister, and was key in saving Pakistan's economy after 1988 sanctions were imposed for
Pakistan's nuclear development program. Aziz only needs to win a parliament seat before he can take over as the new prime minister. The attack came
as Aziz was leaving a campaign election meeting.
