Hmmm....might want to point out that this is from december 2009 (i.e. not recent) and also add your own thoughts and opinions on it as per forum protocol.

on-topic, it seems strange especially as documents released by wikileaks indicate that he was known to be in the area since 2004(ish).

Well, you know, we've (the US) been giving billions to Pakistani military/intelligence to look for him. If they found him they'd lose all that money. The "hunting" for him pays a lot better than the "finding."
