Not to derail you but my country (America) has "blown up schools, innocent women, children and the elderly"...all in the last week! Have you seen the news in Libya? How is planting a roadside bomb any different then sending in a missle from a computer terminal? Both seem pretty damn cowardly to me. You like to think there is a grand evil we have ridded ourselves of - the grand evil is all around us unfortunately.

It sounds like you think people who are happy about OBL's death also support our occupation in other countries and support this government and the wars and the killing and think it's all over now and the sun has come out and everything's all peachy now... Why on earth do you incorrectly assume so much?

We aren't celebrating "murder". We are celebrating a big step in the right direction,

Really? That's not the impression I got from all the people saying, "Woohoo Osama's dead!"

Are you not glad that he is dead? Are you not glad that Hitler was killed?

When I hear people talk about Hitlers death I don't hear this: "Hitler's murder was cool it was funny and LOL! just the act of murder is just so joy-inducing woo hoo!"

However I do hear this: "I'm glad Hitler was killed else we would be speaking German right now. Good thing Hitler was killed else we would be under a brutal dictatorship woo hoo! "

When I hear people talking about Osama's death I don't hear this: "Osama's murder was cool it was funny and LOL! just the act of murder is just so joy-inducing woo hoo!"

However I do hear this: "good thing Osama was killed it makes me feel so much safer! whoo hoo! This world is a safer place and the potential for Osama to kill thousands of people again has been eliminated whoo hoo!"

This is about as simple as I can put it so if you still don't get it after this then that makes you more simple then the terms and concepts used above and thus any further attempt at my trying to explain this thought would be a waste of my time.

As a proud American, I can assure those of you condemning America in one form or the other, and especially the poster(s) above wishing for America to close all their foreign bases, that I am for this too as are a surprising number of Americans.

The problem from your perspective though, is believing that closing all USA bases around the world in other countries will stop the spread of terrorism is assinine. Although you may be right in one point. Instead of terrorism, you may get communism.

I as an American am willing to say to Europeans - some whose ass we saved, and some whose ass we kicked in WW2 - fine then, you defend yourself, and we'll keep our troops safely over here. Same for Japan and China, who we contributed to MIGHTILY to rebuild after the destruction of WW2 (I presume the Aussies and NZ'landers did something too, but I am mighty hard pressed to find what it is they did to rebuild other countries). They can defend themselves and not get any foreign aid from us. Not Europe, not Asia, Not Australia, Not South America, Not anywhere else. You all can play host to Islamic terrorists.

Yep, I do think we should leave all the world alone. We'll drill our own oil, which we have plenty of, we'll use or own natural gas (world's largest deposits are here). We'll keep our grains, and food that feed so many in other nations. Yes, we'll even keep our tourist dollars and stay home.

I think this will be bad for you all, but then it will be good for America, so I approve.

On 9/11, 3000 innocent people died.
Sunday, one man, who was at least partially responsible for it, was brought to justice.

If your nation has EVER bombed another nation your nation also has bombed INNOCENT people.

The big difference here buddy is that Osoma INTENTIONALLY killed thousands. We do our best NOT to bomb INNOCENT people. It is likely that we spend more money on our "smart bombs" (bombs designed to avoid civilian casualties) then your country does on its entire military budget.

Damn right I'm gonna wave my flag. This country is still a great country and although its not perfect and could use some improvements I have yet to lose faith in this great U.S of A.

You don't like us stomping all over your country? Then stop crying for our help and or stop breaking your treaties.

A treaty is an agreement made between countries of which if it is broken then there are consequences. These consequences were agreed upon when the treaty was made by the governments involved. Everything we have done has been approved by international law and in accordance with the treaties made by the governments involved.

So if our nation kicks your nations ass and maybe kills some innocent people in the process then blame YOUR government for breaking their treaty.

please show me a clip with evidence that this celebrating happened genuinely on 9/11 and was not by radicals...

CNN showed those images. And unlike the people here on ATS who don't do any research what so ever, those images were not old stock footage. It was an organic reaction by people in the Middle East happy to see Americans die.

First,

I don't believe the government lies about EVERYTHING. Unlike people here I don't already assume a conspiracy is underway.

I take them at their word unless there is a reason not to.

I'm waiting for the images to remove all skepticism.

I am baffled as to why anyone thinks a death will make any sort of difference when the system that put these leaders into power is still alive and well. Good thing Hitler is dead eh? ...Well fascism and the blinding of the public through propaganda is still going strong. There are some real Nazi types in upper echelons of US government and eugenics is coming to a hospital near you....but theres no more mass graves or snazzy black suits so everything is cool right? Bin Laden is.....dead I guess and yet there are still plenty of war in the middle east, women are still being crushed underfoot, villages full of civilians are being blown up...but we got the guy they told us we were supposed to hate so its all good. Riiiiiiiight. Eye for eye...tooth for tooth!!...and now everyone is blind...and hungry.

We burned down our house to kill a rat. If you can be proud of that then more power to you but Im too busy looking at the charred remains of the house rather than the rat's carcass.

Well knowing all the "Conspiracy Theories" that have turned out to be true years later. From Operation Ajax, to Gulf of Tonkin, to injecting citizens with virus's. I don't trust a thing they say. You think they changed? Why do you take them at their word now? So Bin Laden pics prove it? ok cool.

The question is always who benefits? Was it the muslims? lol

Isn't that a good thing? If it's not, do you think the US should have left hitler to his own devices and stayed out of WW II ?

I'm not upset that he's dead, I'm upset that American people are cheering over the murder of a man.

Yes, but what about ALL OF THOSE MANY, MANY, MANY conspiracy theories that didn't pan out?

Very few ever actually have.

In no way will you ever hear me say that I trust the government implicitly. But I do my homework, I do my due diligence in whatever I hear. Why? Because I don't want to be deceived anymore by the government than I do by idiots on conspiracy forums who can't be bothered to do any real research(not at all directed at you maya..I'm speaking generally).

But at the same time I don't approach everything from a standpoint that assumes the government is lying. The fact is, when the government does lie I usually know about it before the government actually lies. Why? because I spend more time looking at RAW data rather than analysis by others. I know the facts they are distorting before they distort them.

I also usually know when they are telling the truth.

When I don't know either way i give the benefit of the doubt until all facts are known. I don't like having egg on my face.

Examples:

I didn't comment or say a word on the birther issue. Not because I didn't care, but because I wanted something solid and it never materialize.

I didn't call Obama a closet socialist or even agree with what other were saying to that tune until I fully looked into the people surrounding him. Now I'm convinced he is.

I also didn't buy so many of the BS conspiracy theories that NEVER panned out about Bush.

There's more, but I won't waste your time or mine going through the list.

I fault people for what they actually did or said, not what other people say they did or said. I wait to make up my own mind.

Hence my approach. I don't want to be a man with a hammer seeing nails everywhere I go. I don't wanna be a Conspiracy Theorist seeing conspiracy in everything I see and hear. That's no way to live life.

Honestly this is just proof that people will find any excuse to drag America or Americans through the mud. Like some of the members here who, instead of giving credit where it is due, are chiding Obama for usurping "Bush's Victory". Ridiculous I tell ya.

Well i'm with you on that. There are alot of conspiracy theories thrown out there to discredit anyone with a differing opinion of the official government line. Again, its who benefits. You got the former director of studies at the Army war college telling you Israel was behind the attack and that is brushed aside but a video found by some random person in a random house in Afghanistan is Absolute proof. Pretty funny if you ask me.
