I live in New Mexico and I will vote for GW Bush. I am a veteran of the war in Vietnam. I served in-country during the same period as John Kerry. I was in I Corps, closest to the DMZ; he was in IV Corps in the Mekong Delta. John Kerry apparently served honorably during his tour in Vietnam, but returned home to betray his nation and his fellow veterans by leveling baseless charges against the US military. The leaders of communst North Vietnam have been very vocal about the anti-war movement in America giving them the encouragement to persevere in a war they had lost on the battlefield in South Vietnam. John Kerry and his ilk have the blood of thousands of US servicemen on their hands. Those who support him now carry that same stain.

I cannot imagine a worse fate for this country than to have an avowed war criminal (though I doubt Kerry ever actually commited a war crime) and a documented traitor as commander-in-chief. In one of his commercials, John Kerry states that he defended his country as a young man and he will do the same thing as president. The truth is that he betrayed his country as a young man and there is every reason to believe that he would do no less as president.

John Kerry's tour in Vietnam was abbreviated by his having collected three Purple Heart Medals for which he lost not one day of duty. My tour was cut short by a massive wound that took me years to recover from and I received one Purple Heart. I cannot be the only veteran to wonder about the circumstances surrounding Kerry's "wounds."

As an honorably discharged Marine, I can only say that it is highly unusual to see the term "ex-Marine" used by a Marine. I wholly agree that while the prefix "ex-," meaning "from the" or "former," is acceptable grammatically, it is nearly universally rejected by Marines ("Once a Marine, always a Marine"). Perhaps you could give us a little background.
