Once and for all i want to know the real answe to this equation...

is it 1 or 9?

6/2 = 3
2+1=3

3x3 = 9

I don't see how you would get "1" from that

Do the parenthesis first, multiply by 2 and divide by six...the answer is 1. That's elementary.

1+2=3
2x3=6

Well... what's the question? My g/f is pretty good at maths..

6/2=3 x 2+1=3

3 x 3 = 9

The answer is 9, im not even that smart

well i put the answer as 1, but about 1 million people aregue that its 9, apparently If it were 6÷(2(1+2)) it would be 1

so i just wanted a definitive answer.

6÷2(1+2)

6/2 = 3
3(3) = 9

BEDMAS...

Brackets (1+2) = 3
Division 6/2 =3
Multiplication 3 x 3 = 9

Had you said 6/(2(1+2)) = 1 i would have agreed... but you did not. The equasion is 6/2(1+2) hence 9.

BTW, in BEDMAS, Division and Multiplication are done at the same time... meaning the one furthest to the left gets done first. Similar with Addition and Subtraction.

U ADD WHATS IN PARENTHESIS, THEN MULTIPLY BY 2...

This is 3rd grade my friends.. what schools are you going to??

6 divided by [ 2 * (2+1) = 6 ] TOTALS TO 6 divided 6 which in turn equal 1...

It's 9 because to get the answer one you have to do an order of operations error.

In this case to get 1 you would do:

6÷2(1+2)

6/2(3)
6/6 = 1.

What they don't realize is that 2 is not part of brackets and they treat it as if it does.

The real solution is in my above post.

So simple maths isnt allways simple

I'm glad i put 1, the more you say 1 is correct the more happy i am.
