Of course, these 'cures' are very expensive, and keep people alive long enough to fleece them of their money (or someone's money).

Not really. Most people who are scared of 'big pharma' don't realise the time, effort and money that goes into research and drug development. It takes on average 15 years to get from concept to the shelf and costs millions of £ to research. Up to 5000 different chemicals will be tested and typically only one or two make it to the final stage.

The cures are only 'expensive' if you live in America where they run a healthcare system for profit instead of socialising it like the more developed healthcare systems of the world.

Natural cures are frowned upon because big pharma, the insurance companies etc. can't make any money on them.

No, they're frowned upon because they have either: never been tested or they have been tested and they have failed to show any effect

IIRC metabolism in the body goes like this

Ethanol --> Acetaldehyde (carcinogen) --> Acetic acid

Based on a quick wiki search (I'll research further) IARC said: "There is sufficient evidence for the carcinogenicity of acetaldehyde (the major metabolite of ethanol) in experimental animals."

Basically the official line is that EVERYTHING causes cancer or other disease - EXCEPT the poisonous GMO foods and CHEMICAL pharmaceuticals.

This is insane. I love a drink as much as the next guy and now the Cancer Council is saying this is as harmful as smoking. What is this world coming to?

Drinking Alcohol (ethanol) is both volatile and flammable.
What did you think was gonna happen when you drink it?

I guess I can drink as much as I like then - I am a woman, not an "experimental animal"!

For the record, substances that are deemed carcinogenic are often fed to experimental animals in quantities far far and away in excess of what a normal human being can ingest. Further, even if the chemical in question is carcinogenic, there is still a question of the immune system and why it failed to destroy that cancerous cells. In this case, there is also the question of quantity and how long the material stays in its carcinogenic form before it is metabolized to vinegar.

Further, the op published a study claiming that alcohol causes cancers of the mouth, nose and throat without consideration of the fact that people drink alcohol - not hold it in their mouth, nose and throat over extended periods of time. How long of an exposure time must the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and throat be exposed to alcohol in order for cancer to arise?

I am afraid that your post raises more questions then it answers.

That's something I agree with as well.
It's my belief that if someone does get cancer, they've got some serious immune problems or something going on (excluding really rare insane cancers) that should make them question why they are getting it in the first place.
My doctor even said that a fair amount of people get cancer from just worrying about it.

Plus, thinking back to the middle ages, tons of people consumed alcohol IIRC? Then again they might not have lived as long as us one could argue though

This is nothing new. My father when through detox and quit drinking 20 years ago. I remember being told then that alcohol can cause cancer. I don't need some lame "official agency" to tell me when I should or shouldn't be concerned about something.

Yeh i'm fed up with then as well.."The road to hell being paved with good intentions"..Health is simple replace all water soluble vitamins and minerals daily..you have to take supplements now as the food is denuded...or grow your own in seaweed fertiliser....make sure your stomach acid levels are right, supplement with Apple Cider vinegar..or as you age the nutreients wont get absorbed...Finaly no zinc=no puberty..no puberty= no sex...no testosterone and a raft of things causing the ageing syndrome to worsen. I know it works because i tried it .Big pharma loves sick people.

One cure is cheap..The fact that the research on Cayenne pepper causing Prostate cancer cells to commit suicide..was totally missed by the main stream media owing to Paris Hiltons lack of underwear.Which happened about the same time.Crazy world!! It seems to work on other cancers too. Big Pharma wont like that.
