With the Olympic games only days away NATO aircraft have began aerial surveillance over Greece and the surrounding area to spot potential terrorist
activity. The US is flying RC-135 and EP-3 Reconnaissance planes and are based at Souda BAy on the island of Crete. The US Olympic team will spend
their pregame training camp at the base.
SOUDA BAY, Greece - U.S. spy planes have increased flights over North Africa and the Middle East to provide Greek and NATO authorities information
about any potential threats to next month's Olympics, officials at this U.S. base on the island of Crete said Thursday.
U.S. Air Force RC-135 and U.S. Navy EP-3 reconnaissance planes have been using the small Navy base at Souda Bay, base officials told The Associated

The officials would not give additional details on the flights or intelligence gathered.
