They are truly amazing, think of having your iPod running continuously for over 34 years.
In interstellar space travel terms the Voyagers are just poking along. It took them over 34 years to travel about 10 light hours, so to truly reach
the point beyond where the sun's gravity no longer dominates, breaching the Oort cloud, will take them 40,000 years, to have gone a distance less
than 2 light years.
Voyager One's signal, produced by a 20 watt radio transmitter, is so faint that the amount of power reaching NASA's antennas is 20 billion times
smaller than the power of a digital watch battery.
