Massachusetts Democrats: Ban Soda from City Property to Lower Cost of State Runned Healthcare

Dr. Barbara Ferrer, executive director of the Boston Public Health Commission, said in that in the long term, the policy will cut health care costs.
"Economists estimate that medical costs for an obese patient are about 42 percent higher a year than for a patient with healthy weight," she said in a statement.

City departments have six months to phase out the sinister sugary beverages in cafeterias, vending machines, concession stands and during city-run meetings. And just in case parched public workers aren't quite sure what constitutes a healthy beverage, the Boston Public Health Commission is applying the familiar red, yellow and green labels to drinks, and reinforced by nearby posters that say, "Stop. Rethink Your Drink. Go On Green."

Wow! While under the mandate of a statewide healthcare system, Democrats are banning foods in the name of saving money. Now, they can tell you what you can and cannot eat. It has begun. How will this affect the 2012 elections in Massachusetts? Will people forget this by election day?

Is it that people such as yourself cannot understand what you read or that you can but distort it on purpose. Nothing is being banned. No one is taking anything from you. Tell me, honestly. How much of your soda drinking time do you spend on city property?

What if you are a state employee?

If we do not stand up for them, we fail to stand together on other issues.

When the government is able to take an inch, they will be back to take an entire mile.

Do you know what a "Precedent" is? If they do this now, then it will go to schools. Then Police and Fire employees will be forbidden since good health is a prerequisite for their job. Eventually they will end up with total control of what you eat, when you eat, and how much you eat. Combine this with GMO foods, and eventually they start reducing the nutrition content of foods for general consumption in an attempt to keep us all weak and stupid. Think man, just stop and think for a minute.
