It's way past my bedtime, so sorry to not have waded through the entire thread. The obvious question for me to ask in view of what seems to be like- father like-son is did you get proper comparative genetic testing? If comparative genetic testing were done of the two, they might find answers no one else can to date.

MODS please feel free to move this where appropriate. I'm not sure if this falls under "paranormal" or "spiritual or religious"

Ok guys... for starters, I'm not a religious nut. I'm Catholic and so are my 2 boys. But I'm not over the top and keep my religion primarily to myself unless asked.
However, I feel my son is under constant spiritual attacks. Me being religious, I feel it is nothing other than Satan or a demon. I really believe in evil entities, shadow people, or other entities in general. Good or bad. Just demons. Those are my beliefs. I don't discount others beliefs about the paranormal though. I enjoy hearing about what others believe.
I'm sure you all may think I'm completely nuts, but oh well!

My sons father has struggled with hearing voices since he was young. He has expressed always feeling that someone or something is around him constantly. So he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. His mother is very into the occult and their practices. Always trying to speak to the deceased, etc.
He decided to become a born again Christian and after that, whatever presence was around him just went crazy. It was almost as if he had a complete personality change. Even his appearance changed... mostly his eyes and face. I could always tell when he was under one of his "attacks". So he went on to become a criminal. Oddly, he doesn't remember much during this time which lasted about 4 years. I think he got off so easily in the courtroom because he really WASN'T lying! He truthfully didn't remember committing the crimes. That's just my opinion though. So fast forward 5 years. He is COMPLETELY fine now. I believe he rid what ever was following him around or influencing him. It's like night and day. But... I feel in my gut (as crazy as it may sound) that whatever was around him, is now around my son. (our son).
I'm not one of those who believes that every physical ailment is a result of Satan. But for the past 2 years, my son has been suffering from migraines. Each time he gets one, it's worse. Throbbing headache on one side of the head. Sometimes the pain moves. Severe vomiting and diarrhea. Then the past 2 or 3 times he's had one, he gets the aura. But the aura's last even after the headache is gone. Sometimes for days. He sees lights, shapes, and dots. The last one (on friday the day he was suppose to be baptized) he woke up with a migraine and then had a seizure. He lost control of all his motor functions and couldn't speak very well. But! They ran every test under the sun and then some and couldn't find a single thing wrong. Not even a little off. So the hospital was really baffled. They sent us to Childrens Hospital for more testing and still no signs of ANYTHING. We have an appointment with a pediatric neurologist in a few weeks. But every once in a while, I will catch my son almost reacting to someone or something that isn't there. He will laugh. One day he told someone to stop knocking. He had the weird look in his eye like his father use to get. This all happens around his headache issue, so I've been discounting it to that. Or I'm in denial. I think he is scared to tell me or the doctors what is going on. He is such a happy kid. Even at the hospital, he had a smile on his face and would say everything is fine.
EDIT: We have done allergy testing. Nothing but pollens and ragweed. I have him on a strict diet. No artificial anything. No msg, limited preservatives (as they are in everything) no nitrates. Basically meats (organic) fruits, veggies, and carbs. No caffeine or any other migraine trigger foods.
I sent a message to my priest about this, but he probably thinks I'm insane as I have not heard back from him. Has anyone had any experience specifically with Satanic attacks?
My aunt who is a southern baptist told me to cover everything related to my son with ammonia. Ammonia?! What would that do besides stink up the whole house?
I also don't feel that I am strong enough to ward off these things. I have read that if you don't fully cast these things away, they usually come back 3 fold. So I've been weary to do much more than pray. Opinions and shared experiences would be appreciated!

EDIT AGAIN because it seems nobody is READING the post... we have seen NUMEROUS doctors and specialists. We have had multiple MRI's performed. A CT scan and an EEG. All normal. He's not diabetic, or anything else. Perfectly normal, happy go lucky kid. I am mostly just curious about demonic forces with these types of scenarios. In NO WAY am I trying to blame satan for all the bad things in my life. Or this specific health issue. But when I take a step back, there just seems to be a lot of correlations between his father and what he went through and what my son is now going through. I will stick to what the doctors are telling us and I have not brought up anything spiritual to the doctors. I am not on here seeking medical advice! Just looking for opinions about supernatural influences. Also, my sons father and I were never married. We do not live together.
edit on 27-4-2011 by ampar84 because: Edit again

I don't know whether your son is being attacked or not by the devil, but did you know that the devil and his minions are powerless in the face of Jesus? So lets say there is a demonic issue right now, you need to be the one who calls upon Jesus for help. He is THE only thing that will get rid of evil. Basically if you think about it humans are like vacuums, we are either filled with Jesus ( the holy spirit) or we are filled with something else. Right now your son needs to have the presense of Jesus in your house which can only happen through you because he is quite young and may or may not fully understand a relationship with Jesus. To have a relationship with Jesus you need to accept Jesus as your lord your God and believe in his awesome power which far surpasses evil. You see evil has to bow in his name because he has the authority over everything that is. Furthermore having faith in Jesus whether or not your son is being attacked, has power in healing. Jesus can heal your son whatever he is going through. So get your bible out and I recommend reading some healing and deliverence prayers in psalms. And even listen to some christian music like Rebecca Saint James, play it in your house. Unfortunately catholicism does not teach about this relationship we need to have with Jesus, and I fear that may be why you are under attack at the moment. So please accept Jesus into your heart and pray with your son to him, and trust me this thing whatever it is will go away. Evil simply cannot be with Jesus, I am testament to this because I was attacked when I was young and since accepting Jesus in my heart, I haven't been attacked ever again and instead have his awesomeness and power coursing through me as you will too this second that you accept him into your heart dear.

Schizophrenia cannot be cured. Going to one doctor isn't going to do anything. Medication and therapy is proven to help. Sometimes the disease recedes, and the person becomes "normal" again. It is also hereditary.

I was once Christian (now agnostic). I lived in two "haunted" houses. I felt like there was an evil presence around me, especially in certain rooms. I even saw shadow people. I prayed and prayed, the "demon" never went away or was affected.

I did some research, and the feeling of being watched/hallucinations can be attributed to high EMF waves. All of the rooms that I felt the "presence" in the strongest had a breaker box below/above it. And high EMF readings, get an EMF meter and see if your house has bad wiring.

Paranormal things usually can be explained. Please don't let religion get in the way of your sons mental health...

Pray to Jesus, with your son.

Say, "Dear Jesus, please free me from these evil spirits."

Say it over and over - it might help.

I had the exact same headaches that you are describing when I was a child. Of course I am female and that may have something to do with it (hormones). Every single day for at least 2-3 month I had them in 6th grade, and then every other few months up until freshmen year. My Family had moved from Chicago to a near by suburb of, during this time, so it could've have been stress and excitement too. I would be blinded by auras that would last a long while after my headache had gone but beside the pain the worst was the numbness I would get in my mouth and hands and it would radiate through my throat and into my forearm. I would slur my words so bad as well as be so dazed I'd stare off into "something". It was so bad I was in and out of hospitals and doctors offices. I did the MRI testing all that crap, nothing showed up. And there was no medicine they'd prescribe me because I was too young or they didn't have anything to give me, so Excedrin, needless to say was my friend during that time. They did give my parents a list of food that could cause my type of migraines (peanuts, caffeine, chocolate) I can say that when I would stare off it was partly because I was trying to determine if the zig zags dots and auras were from burning my eyes with a light or the onset of a migraine. The slurring also caused me to mutter switch my words around and just spit out nonsensical sentences, and I would grow so exhausted and tired within the first 20-45 minutes I would pass out for the remainder of the migraine. I'd ask to see if anyone else in the family had these types of migraines, my mother had them to though never as severe as mine. Now I want to ask, is your child prone to anxiety attacks or any type of sensitivity emotionally? I had anxiety attacks at a young age and they only turned to depression in my teens, which apparently was brought on my an adrenal disorder. I rarely if ever get them, unless I'm taking Midol or something for hormones which I don't think you're son has to worry about lol...Or when, and this is really weird I am around "psychically inclined" people. But I would really really really have his adrenal glands checked first and maybe talk to him about how he feels about things, emotions and such, which I am sure you do, but never hurts to double check. Hope I could help you, I know my parents were wrecking their brains and felt pretty helpless while I was going through all that, so I feel for you

First off God does not want your boy to suffer.

I would suggest 10mg of Amitriptyline at night before bed. Used for the treatment of Migraines and some schizophrenic symptoms.

O Dearly beloved Word of God, teach me to be generous, to serve Thee as Thou dost deserve, to give without counting the cost, to fight without fretting at my wounds, to labor without seeking rest, to spend myself without looking for any reward other than that of knowing that I do Thy holy will. Amen.

There is a huge problem today with prayer. everyone seems to go out of the lines...
while many mean well , they simply aren't correct. and there's no time spared to really get this wrong..

Pray to the Father in Jesus name.

Pray the Our Father who art in Heaven .. as Jesus showed you..
www.prayerguide.org.uk...
( i like to say ' please ' in the Lords Prayer
please give us this day our daily bread.. )
then continue with a request prayer for others and your own needs..

' Holy Father in Jesus i ask you please ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '

Thank you Holy Father, in Jesus , Amen.

Teach your sons how to pray like this. have them both pray with you.

Be adoring of God, share Him and lift Him up in your house.
teaching and praying with your children is the best gift any person can offer.

Pray to Jesus also... GOD is a Holy Family. Ask Him to intervene in every situation. but keep the prayers within the Holy Family.

"14. Yeshua says... If you fast you will only be giving birth to sin in yourself. If you pray, your prayers will come back to haunt you. If you give to charity, you will create evil within your own spirit. If, however, you travel through a region and they welcome you, eat whatever is put in front of you, and heal their sick. For it is not what goes into your mouth which contaminates you, but what comes out of it."

Simply put, do what is natural and don't waste your time pondering on all the ritual and superstition. Throwing out "movies" and "games" and being fearful of earthly things which are beneath you makes you as worthless as the things you fear and cast out. Your Father in heaven - YHWH ("Yahweh"), blessed are you who now know his name - is all knowing and all seeing, and cares for who you really are, because "what comes out" of the mouth is your faith and love. This is who you are. Don't lie to yourself and do things you hate to do, because you leave room for wickedness to dwell inside of you; rather, what you must cast out from yourself is all doubt, fear, and ignorance. Accept the light of truth in you and be unwavering in your faith through YHSWH's (Yashua; "Jesus"; Son of God; Christ) name.

"26. You detect a speck in your brother's eye, but fail to perceive the beam sticking out of your own. Remove the timber from your eye, and you will see clearly enough to extract the speck lodged in the eye of your brother."

If however you feel unattached to God, which you most certainly are seeing as you need to ask for advice and apparently limit yourself ("over the top"?), then do what you must to get "reacquainted" with the Holy Spirit. If you wish to fast and pray for forgiveness, as your son is born out of wedlock or whatever other historical hurdles you may have in your life, then do this, admit to the Father and seek forgiveness, but don't do any of it simply out of obligation or because "you have to", do it for your own good. It is not a chore! When you feel the righteous light within you, then you can pray for your son's salvation.

Now I have taught you something. Pray on behalf of your son who is afflicted, but do it in honesty and without regret so that there is no room for doubt and other wicked feelings. Seek and you shall find, correct? So, be receptive to the light of the Father. Remember: truth, love, and faith. Meditate on this and be in peace.

Excert: Unfortunately yes it is believed to be hereditary: Estimates of the heritability of schizophrenia tend to vary owing to the difficulty of separating the effects of genetics and the environment although twin studies have suggested a high level of heritability.[50] It has been suggested that schizophrenia is a condition of complex inheritance, with several genes possibly interacting to generate risk for schizophrenia or the separate components that can co-occur leading to a diagnosis.[51] These genes appear to be non-specific

I have had migraines like the ones you described ever since I was around 5. Vomiting, dizzyness, sensitivity to lights and sounds, you name it. I've heard voices from time to time as well, but they were never with the migraines as far as I recall. I never took it as a sign of possession or anything like that, just as a major inconvenience is all. My headaches are not as bad as they were when I was younger, but every once in a while they are strong. I've personally attributed the occasional voices to individuals who have passed on or perhaps a connection to another dimension, etc (and I am by no means a religious person, but it's my two cents on me.) While I understand he's been checked out by medical professionals and all, I think it's important to remember doctors don't know everything, and they are capable of being wrong. Doesn't mean they are, but just saying here. I work in a hospital and witness a lot of cases of the "I don't have a clue."

My question is have you asked your son what exactly does he see? Hear? Is he frightened, or just in pain? Does he think it's a demon, etc? If he's smiling and saying everything is fine, it either doesn't seem to concern him all too much or possibly he doesn't know how to relate to others what is happening. By no means am I an expert, but has he been to a therapist or psychologist?

I have just read through this thread and I am sure you are as confused as I am with all the different opinions. I just wanted to ask you have you experienced anything in your home that you would consider paranormal?
Shadow people, moving objects etc. Anything that you have witnessed that would make you feel something paranormal is going on? Usually there are other signs that you would notice that would suggest activity. Does your child speak about other beings trying to communicate with him? Have you had a paranormal team investigate your home to see if they are able to pick up on anything? Let's not just jump directly to demons. There are other spiritual beings that could be here that are not nearly as severe as a demon? It could be just a haunting or something in your home such as high EMF that could causing your child to become sick.
I agree with the others that you should keep pursing the medical route, but I too suffer from migraines and have had them for years! They never go away completely and have even caused me to be blind for one afternoon. I am not pursued by any entity I just have migraines. They also started when I was very young and I am now 42. Your child just may be one of us unlucky ones with the migraines.
I would need alot more documentation before I would feel comfortable with pushing this to supernatural. Please let us know if you have any experiences that would move it into this area.
Will keep a watch on your post for updates!

Beat me to it - exactly what I wanted to ask was this.

I wanted to know more about you as a mother than anything else.

What are your experiences around the home and your child? Are you aware of any parallel experiences which are unexplainable that you are having?

My clinical opinion based off the symptoms, which means nothing without an examination.... Mental illness is hereditary. Schizophrenia runs in families. SOunds like there is potential epilepsy as well. And the migraine could simply be a warning sign of the seizure or a trigger itself.

I have had more than my fair share of experience with the demonic and experiences with how the Catholic Church deals with them. I've worked on several. So I'm not going to give you a purely clinical opinion or an in the dark faith based opinion ignorant to modern medicine.

I had to take my son to 4 Doctors to diagnose him with cancer when he had a visible tumor. So competence is a huge issue with physicians. Without meeting the child it's impossible to offer a truly knowledgeable opinion, but based off what you have said he may need to speak to a psychologist and he needs the epilepsy angle explored in more detail. Not sure where you are located but I would strongly recommend Childrens Hospital of the Kings Daughters, they have an excellent one in Norfolk, VA. And they have all encompassing treatment for just about any issue that may arise with your child. Your priest would instruct you to exhaust the medical and psychological possibilities before moving in the spiritual direction. There is a large group in the Catholic Clergy that believes possession is simply mental illness. Then there is another group that has seen and dealt with it and views it more realistically.

Exhaust the medical and psychological possibilities. If your child is not the target of demonic obsession or possession then you'd do a great deal of harm by pursuing this spiritually and not medically.

Thank you (and thank everyone) for the info. I haven't gotten offended by any opinions (except the one who was attacking my parenting skills!) because the whole reason I posted was to get opinions on EVERYTHING and from EVERYONE.

Ok to answer your question, the only time anything paranormal happens is when his father is around. When he comes over to visit, or when he starts getting "attacked". He calls them spiritual attacks, which is why I started calling them. He is very connected to our son on a spiritual sense and it really bothers me. Back when we did live together when my son was a baby, he was going through a particularly rough time with the schizophrenia or "attacks". He was crippled by voices and was almost comatose for a few days. When he started to come around one night he got up to use the bathroom. He said I'll be right back. Then in a very distinct and loud, menacing type voice we BOTH heard something say "No you won't." He froze in his tracks and asked if I heard anything. I lied and said no. I was NOT going to feed into whatever was going on. But the fact that we both heard the same voice say the same thing really shook me up. I'm not schizophrenic in any way. (though my level of crazy may be in question after this post!) I have never in my life heard voices, had strange things happen, felt any sort of presence, etc. Only when his father is around.
Since his father was already getting into trouble with the law anyway, we got the heck out shortly after that. He IS a born again Christian, but it doesn't seem to matter in this case.
He's been in and out of jail ever since. Not really remembering the past 4 years. He's been out since December and seems to be alright for the time being.
The feeling I get when I'm around him can only be described as... overwhelming RAGE! Maybe because of all he put us through. BUT many other people say the same thing when he's around him. Whether religious or not, they all describe the same feelings. Some attribute it to him being annoying, others say there is something a little off with him. Others have pointed out that something spiritual is at play.
I feel very uncomfortable. Almost claustrophobic. Uneasy. I DO feel a very HUGE presence. It's almost crippling. Maybe that's just fear too. In my logical mind, I'm trying to come up with explanations for all this. Maybe some PTSD symptoms come up when he's around. Or there really is something in him, or around him.
My son has only complained to the voices once during a week time span. During that time, he was also having nightmares which he never really has. If he does, they are kinda silly. Something to do with video games or something. But these he said were that someone was trying to hurt me and all he heard was yelling. I prayed like crazy and it hasn't happened since. So hopefully we are somewhat protected now.

And to respond to the person who said that Catholics don't emphasize a relationship with Jesus, YES WE DO!!! Read up on the changes made by Vatican II. That is what almost every homily is about. Being Christ like, strengthening your relationship with Jesus and how to do it. I wouldn't be a Catholic if they didn't teach those things. The whole point (in my opinion) of Christianity is to be CHRIST like. Model your life after his. And that's exactly what the modern Roman Catholics teach. I think a lot of people have preconceived notions about Catholics and it may seem like a dark and eerie form of Christianity. That is exactly what I was brought up to believe. But I was in for a pleasant surprise 5 years ago when I stepped back into a Catholic church. No crazy chanting, no worshiping Mary or the Saints, etc. Just a focus on Jesus and his teachings.

Also... I don't know if this is relevant or makes me sound more like I'm riding the crazy bus, but we do live about 10 minutes away from Denver International Airport which if you look on here, there are many conspiracy theory threads about the airport. But it is said that this whole area is built on Indian burial grounds.
Would I myself have to feel something for something paranormal to be going on? I'm pretty strong in my faith and kind of have the "f off" mentality when it comes to paranormal activities. I don't feed into it when I do feel things, and it stops immediately. But my son has always been sensitive to moods and energies. I feel like he is too afraid to tell me. We have a great relationship, but he always says everything is "fine!" And I just feel like it isn't.

Do you know of any specific quotes from the Bible itself regarding saints? This has always been one thing I have questioned as a Catholic. I feel as though I don't need an intercessor. I can talk to the big man myself. But I do like the idea of saints praying FOR me when I have run out of the strength to do so. Also, I have heard many wonderful stories regarding saints. I have never been able to question anyone at my church about saints. Mostly because depending on what you believe, everyones opinions will be biased.

There is only one intercessor. Jesus.

hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

john 14:16 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Don't get involved with praying to saints. There is no scripture in the bible to support praying that a dead saint will help you in this world. Saul tried to do it even in ancient israel it was a sin to do so.

First-off, I am sorry you have to witness and feel the struggle of your son. I know how it feels. You have already received very good advice, and some not so good. Your last post triggered a thought that I will not share publicly, so if you still want to discuss this, please contact me directly (via pm or via my contact form on my website).

Someone suggested that you should look into your life for your sins....Please do not take to heart ignorant and entirely silly answers. Not for one second place blame onto yourself, ever. Your son experiences phenomena that can be dealt with, processes that could be altered and improved.

Please do not ever replace doctors with priests. Just because a doctor or more could not diagnose your son, it doesn't mean that there is no help. Medicine has come a long way, people haven't.....so it's about finding a GOOD doctor.

While prayers can't harm, they will be harmful if they are the ONLY form of "therapy" being applied....

You have been told to look into diet. Depending on his actual condition, diet might be irrelevant, however, it will not hurt to continue keeping his diet very healthy.

Be VERY CAREFUL about taking him to witch doctors and such....They are very well intended, but if your son suffers from a serious mental (aka chemical or genetically driven) problem, these encounters will only FUEL his situation and making it more serious, more rapidly.

I come from both worlds - of scientific inquiry and esoterism - so I learned that balance is key.....be gentle with your choices and try to steer free from obsessive fear. Your thread started with "demons" and such...and I almost passed it as another junk thread like many others here...then, I read your edit "because nobody was reading it"... I know you are looking for answers. What you will find here are opinions only. Keep reading and seeking the RIGHT DOCTOR.

Meanwhile, please look at triggering factors and make a list of these. While they do not reflect the condition itself, they show processes inside his brain to which he responds immediately, triggering or inflaming his condition.

Once you identify all triggers, it will be easier to begin avoiding them. However, more triggers will appear, I am almost certain. So you can't keep running away from triggers, but at least and at first, it would give you some breathing room while you also seek medical expertise.

Don't give up on medicine....and on reason..

More, on a one on one conversation if you wish.
