You mean read the help file so you know what your talking about? Press F1 it works faster. Then type in the search option. Clipping Masks

I'm too tired to get into anything, but I thought I would give a more layperson's explanation of PDF files.

Complex graphics like PDF, PNG, etc. can have layers. Simple images like BMP, JPG do not. A layer is it's own image. In the discussion of this PDF, the OP is saying that the PDF is made up of multiple images...or layers. Each layer can have color or be transparent. So if you had a black background layer, and then put another layer on top of it with white text, it would look like a single image in any viewing program. But when opened (not viewed) with an editing application, you can see and manipulate each layer independently...seeing that the whole was actually pieced together like building blocks...just images and text.

Layers are what is typically used when faking images...such as porn of a famous actress. You put the naked body of one woman in the back layer, and then put just the face of the famous actress on another layer, surrounded by transparent space. When viewed (or saved) as a simple image like BMP or JPG, it looks like the actress is naked. However...if saved as a complex graphic like PDF...and opened in an editing program...you can view each layer independently.

As an example...imagine painting on canvas. First you paint a forest, covering the whole canvas. Later, you draw people on top of the forest. When viewing the painting, you see people in a forest, but the layers are a forest...then the people. In an editing program, you can view each independently.

If the OP is correct...and I can't tell right now because I don't have a PDF editing application installed...this would mean that this document has been manipulated for some reason. From what I'm reading from other posters who opened this file in an editing program...it sounds like the bottom layer is a blank form, and the upper layers are the text (or some mix of this). If that is the case...it truly sounds like this is a forged document that some idiot (and they would really have to be an idiot) saved with the layers, instead of flattening all the layers to a single, simple graphic like a BMP or JPG.

Hope that helps those who don't really understand graphic editing programs and formats.

PS: Scanned documents won't have layers. They are simple, one page graphics.

PERFECTLY recreating and editing a mere document is childs-play for certain government agencies. If Donald Trump gets to ATS, sees this thread and has one of his people explain it to him in a way where he can explain it in lamen's terms to the public/media....LOOK OUT!

I don't want to say that this whole Obama birth certificate issue isn't a valid subject to debate, cause it is. But the extent to which it's being debated & argued, specifically here on ATS right now, is pretty rediculous!

I don't know if he was born in this country or not. I don't know if the new certificate is real or fake. I do care & I've wondered since before he was elected.

What I do know is that there are much more serious issues going on right now, like the full blown nuclear catastrophe in Japan & the fall out that will affect the entire planet. Or the seemingly relentless & abnormal tornado activity that's been decimating parts of America lately. Much of the area's hit don't normally see tornado's & there's a ton of other abnormal weather patterns & events happening everyday. Kinda seems like Earth changes to me. There's also the obscene & steadily rising price of gas. $4.00 a gallon for the 1st time where I live. Sure sounds like Lyndsay Williams' predictions a month or 2 ago are becoming reality.

So like I said, the birth certificate is certainly an issue. But when I come on ATS & 5 out of 8 threads on the screen are about Obama's birth certificate, it's pretty obvious that their plan is working. Looks like Trump & Obama have fooled many with the "conspiratorial drama" over the last 2 weeks. I could have just watched NBC Nightly News & seen the same content!!

We're well past the point of proving whether Obama's within the constitutional requirements of the US Presidency. I mean we're pretty far into his term in office, he's already done superb damage. The entire country knew that Bush wasn't legally voted into office & we let him sit thru 2 terms of absolute treason!!

All these mainstream media reports about Trump's birth certificate doubts & Trumps wispers of running for office have been nothing more than opportunity for MSM to blackout stories like Ron Paul running in 2012. And total blackout of wtf is going on in Fukushima & all the other things I mentioned above.

Whatever comes up we all have to admit that BHC was to little to know where he was born so maybe someone lied to him. And he absoloutly belives that person. How is he to know where he was born. But if found ineligible for his office he must resign and all his signed projects must be cancelled.

Ok, so a Certificate was released. Maybe it is real, maybe not.

Here are a couple of questions, which could even take us deeper down the rabbit hole.

I will assume the certificate was typed on a Manual typewriter (manual electric)

There may be lots to look at but look at the time of birth, and notice the "M" as in P.M.
It is a capital letter in a lower case. It is the only one of this type I saw on the document.
If this is a character of the manual typewriter shouldn't it be wherever a "M" is on the document?

Now here is images of the twin girls birth certificates that are from Hawaii we all have seen.

I copied the images and put them in Word to see them larger, but your eyes may be better than mine. Look again at the time of birth. Notice these have a strange "M" also, but notice the "M" is different on each one.

Now if it is a manual type writer, the bad type should appear anywhere a "M" is in the document, or I would think that is logical. This does not happen.

Also, if it is a bad character, or defect in the typewriter the spacing and size should remain constant in the document. If the twins are real, it appears the "M" is not identical in regards to spacing and size. Maybe you can zoom in and see if this is so.

As that there is bound to be a expert on type face here, please post back to tell us if there is a logical explanation for the defect in the letter "M" in the time of birth place on the certificates.

Except for one problem. They didn't clean up their font images and brush in the green back ground paper.

Wait.. I have an idea!! How about everybody stop posting about his BC? I personally watched a segment on FOX NEWS that shows him speaking to a crowd about his birth place and he said he was born in Kenya.. ok so he was born in Kenya it's too late to cry over spilled milk! There are many more things to be investigating, fake or not he provided one just cross your F'in finger and hope he doesn't take office in '12... seriously guys this is getting ridiculous. You can all look into this as much as you want, but NOTHING will change and it's already getting old really quick. Good job on the find but damn.

If what you all are expecting to see is a reproduction of a paper document original you are barking up wrong tree. Hospitals, libraries, newspapers and equipment parts manufacturers have long since used microfilm and microfiche (photographic archival mediums) to store the old records. This medium gained wide popularity in 60's and 70's.

I suspect what you are seeing is the "scanned" microfiche image overlaid over modern tamper proof paper exported as electronic file. As the optical scanning process was not a perfect medium, some enhancements are necessary to fill in unresolved image data.

In my mind and knowledge of media and library sciences, this explains the anomalies. Sure it is just my .02¢ but many are fogetting we are talking about a 50 year old document. There ain't no "app" for that kids.

BUT, look up the Eleanor Nordykes twin daughters birth certificates from the same hospital a full DAY LATER, Aug 5th, are numbers 10637 and 10638... doesn't add up...

You are assuming ascending order and missing data. in order to corroborate your theory, you'd need to have another BC before or after those dates to see if progression was ascending or descending. Seems to me that it would be easy to grab a stack of blanks and get the order out of whack. Or drop a bunch and mix up order.
