I can see the good in having representative speakers on behalf of the issues, but when public interests get trumped for corporate interests based on who has bigger pockets, democracy fails.

truenewsthebund.blogspot.com...
And for all you literalists out there, yes, it is from a biased news media source. Like most if not all media sources.

sunqueen30 it seems pretty obvious to me that lobbyist trolls and their briefcases flush with cash have near full control of the DC regime. few scumbag politicians do not come from wealthy, powerful families. these are people that are born entitled and bred into a lifestyle and belief system that has little in common with the commoners.

i think we would be very hard-pressed to find a politician of importance that has not traded personal gain to further corporate rape/greed. check Wikipedias definition of Foreign Aid to see how disturbingly American workers tax dollars are used to further private corporate rape/greed profit interests abroad.

the lobbyists, the board members, primary shareholders & upper management of rape/greed profiteer corporations/business, our clown shoe wearing friends in DC, the scum of the banking industry, the Wall Street scumbags & the American businesses that screwed American citizens out of jobs by sending work abroad - may we live to see the day when all their heads are on display atop 25 foot tall spikes.

In my considered opinion, all Lobbyists should be forever banned from Washington Proper, and all Senatorial and Congressional offices, and any Senator of Congressman who takes even a dime from one needs to be immediately brought up on charges of High Treason. Sadly, our government is bought and paid for. This is what happens when Lawyers are allowed to hold public office, a violation of the Original 13th Article of Amendment, and when Career Politicians are allowed in government.

I agree with you on every point. Globalization was a mistake. I believe that the only people that should be allowed to make money off a land's resources should be the people of that land. Period. It will keep respect for the land and people at a higher level. But that's another thread.

Lobbyist should be banished. There should be a cap on how much money could be made from politics. And corporations should have to wait in line at the voting booths like the rest of us.

An excellent example of corporate thugs terrorizing the US is the healthcare issue.

The intent was to provide care to all Americans. Many see access to well being and life as a right. Additionally the bill sought to provide a measure of control over the extreme cost of healthcare in the US, by far the costliest in the developed world.

The medical and drug lobby threatened to triple prices if the bill passed, despite the fact that it would have actually reduced operating costs and loses due to non-payment, for them.

Basically, we say "yoou are way to expensive, the nation expects more performance and at fair prices", they respond by threatening to make healthcare an elitist luxury.

Profits are much more important than human life. In that atmosphere, you can't even begin to seek a more healthy life style and finacial balance. The second the consumer or government address an issue they are threatened and held at gun point.

FiberX you made a mention of "making the healthcare an elitist industry"...excellent observation. IMHO there is much control over how many Doctors the people of America have to aid them in time of need.

It wasn't all that long ago in America when College/University was reserved for the sons of the wealthy elite. it took years before the daughters of the well-to-do were allowed to seek higher education, and for years no one took those poor ladies seriously.

Very slowly advanced schooling became available to commoners, with few slipping through the cracks to become lawyers or doctors. The ivy league schools begrudgingly began to allow a few minorities amongst their silver-spoon ranks after they were outed in the media many times for their elite bigot lifestyle.

Even today many qualified applicants never get to see medical school. Great grades and extra-curricular activities may qualify one, but without that big fat wallet being held open by wealthy parents the opportunity becomes moot. There are just so many loans, grants and scholarships to be had. And when TPTB see government research statistics showing future needs to be in non-medical fields the push is on to send star students in that direction.

Uncle Sam just doesn't give a damn. Tax paying voters are mere pests to the villain behind the curtain

There will always be corruption. The only way to oust corruption is revolution. But with revolution comes painful economic costs. You can only hope, in a realistic and mature democratic society, that the corruption does less damage than the cost of revolution. And if at the time that it does the people will be brave enough to do what is needed.
