Look at the size of Africa in this infographic!

The True Size of Africa is a map by Kai Krause that truly clarifies just how big this continent is. I mean, you know in your mind it's big but do you really get it. Carefully looking at it, you're awed by the facts that it can hold the United States, China, India, Europe and Japan with its 30.2 million square kilometers.

Africa is the world's second-largest and second most-populous continent, after Asia. At about 30.2 million km² (11.7 million sq mi) including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of the Earth's total surface area and 20.4% of the total land area.[2] With 1.0 billion people (as of 2009, see table) in 61 territories, it accounts for about 14.72% of the world's human population.

Yeah, I was thinking of moving to Africa, Sengal where there are lots of forest; for I was chatting VERY briefly with someone from that place long ago. Then again there is always South America or even Antarctica to consider as other nice places to retire.

We aren't even close to being over populated People.......what we are is overly and mismanaged by our current governments. Plenty of room and plenty of resources if we just spread out but noooooooooooooooo everyone wants to live on top of each other. Smaller communties with better managed resources would solve a lot of problems IMHO of course!

I totally agree. We don't have an over population problem we have a logistics/efficiency problem.

Instead of shipping stuff halfway around the world to be processed and packaged then sent back just have everything produced or grown locally (if possible). There is more than enough food to go around, the issue is just getting it to everyone who needs it.

Honestly with the technology we have nobody should even be concerned about food in this day and age.

As to the OP, the Sahara desert is about as big as the entire United States so living there would not be so feasible. The rest of the continent would depend on the ability to farm the land, dealing with wet/dry seasons, and disease.

What about infrastructure? We already have countless miles of deteriorating roadways, bridges, water shortages, energy shortages, etc etc.

Who do you think is going to pay for all of that?

Hmmm Ive heard too many horror stories come out of Africa i'll stay here in North America, theres alota empty spaces if you know where to look.

You notice most cities start on the most fertile farming land and then continue to expand till there's no farming land left.

I am not a liberal, nor a conservative, and still think overpopulation is a serious topic.

Efforts must be made to stop it nationally, and on a global scale.

If we make smaller more efficient communities then all those problems will be answered. We already have the technology people to achieve free energy. The government is stalling on those issues because they know it and they don't want to admit it because if they do they know we will need them less and less.

Have you ever heard of Jacque Fresco? Might wanna look him up. He has very progressive ideas about changing the way we live, a real visionary. He has a lot of good ideas but even he believes in building cities. Whereas I believe we should have communities that the population stays around 150-500.

Eco-Villages are kewl but some of them are just a bunch of hippies using tin cans to build and well I think we can do a hell of a lot better then that with our new technology. The only thing we would need to achieve it would be land and access to water. Everything else can be built above ground as well as below ground. Only a few topical structures would be needed to house that many people and the rest would be above the tree tops or below the ground. Oh I got some ideas alright!

I used to think we had idiots running this government, but they aren't idiots what they are is GREEDY and on a power trip from hell. WAKE UP people this is totally achievable.....we all could be living a hell of a lot better and be eating better food if we help each other.

Did any of you see the Ants thread? If Ants can do THAT? What in the hell is wrong with us?
