It seems there are delegates entering the caged in area for protests so that they can stand by the protester's, the delegates seem to think the cage makes the dnc look foolish (which I totally agree with) and also sends the impression that they don't care about the citizens have to say.

BOSTON -- Democratic National Convention demonstrators got support from inside the FleetCenter on Wednesday, as a group of delegates joined them to oppose the designated protest zone.

About 15 delegates, many from Washington state, gathered in the fenced-in area by the convention center, telling reporters that while they appreciate the need for security, the protest zone goes too far.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

I think this is a great thing for them to do, it shows the people there are people who care and agree that the caged fenced in area is going to far. It's great that they think they should be calling Tom Ridge on it aswell, he is going to far in his homeland security politics.
Encaging citizens shows us that they think of us as uncivilized as well as a danger to the leaders speaking at the convention.

15 Democratic delegates staged a protest yesterday against the designated protest pens, which has been likened to an internment camp and Guantanamo Bay. One delegate said the so-called "free speech zone", which is surrounded by chainlink fence and razorwire, is QUOTE "no way to encourage democracy." The protest pen has been largely abandoned by demonstrators who have staged an unofficial boycott of the site.

This is awesome read this
Yesterday hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Roxbury to protest a plan to build a Level 4 bioweapons research lab in a low-income residential area.

Opponents of the project say the government has never built a Level 4 lab in an urban area before. Meanwhile the Boston-based Black Tea Society has called for a day of action today and a series of decentralized direct action protests.

------ It's about time protesters start doing something constructive... -----
