Japan files protest over newspaper cartoon about nuke emergency

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan's Consulate General in New York lodged a protest with New York Times Co. on Thursday for publishing a cartoon in which Snow White, carrying a newspaper with the headline "Japan nuclear radiation," asks an old woman offering an apple if she comes from Japan.

The consulate said that since the cartoon refers to a story in Grimm's Fairy Tales in which Snow White falls into a stupor after biting a poisoned apple, it may stir up what the consulate called unfounded anxieties over the safety of foods from Japan.

The cartoon was carried on the editorial page of the International Herald Tribune, which is owned by the New York Times, in its Thursday edition.

You will not censor ATS. We are watching. We are shadowing you. We are reporting. You should tell your citizens and the world the truth. You, each of you who knows a piece of the truth, has a responsibility to share what you know. Do the right thing. Late at night, in the silence of your own home. Remember this. These deaths will be on your conscious. Tell the truth and save these people.

Ok, Des, I know you know I take the situation in Japan serious and find their lies and censorship disturbing, but please tell me it's ok that the first time I watched the video I giggled the whole way through. I'm soooooooo sorry.
lol He's so cute and his phrasing with his expression and accent just tickled my funny bone.

Ok, I'm going to watch it again and put on my straight face.

No apologies needed NoAngel...You should see one of his vids I never posted...He was three sheets to the wind when he made it. I find his style of delivery, very entertaining too...he makes me want to "write" with a french accent.

He tries to do, what so many have become complacent about. Get the word out. Glad you found this thread. I thought this new attempt, at a mass media coup by Japan, should have a thread of it's own. Guess I'm posting in two threads now. BTW, Great vids you posted to the monster thread last night. TY.

The mods in the monster thread removed my reply to you on this topic because it was off-topic I guess, so I'm glad you started another thread. This is a very serious issue.

This is about controlling information and this level of censorship amounts to war on us. We should all be angry about this! This is a war on truth, and because the censorship has escalated to a global level we must all be very concerned. It tells me that there is a lot more to this event. This is a nuclear war that we are all going to be the victims of. I believe that the US may have triggered this earthquake to disable Japan because Japan was getting too cozy with China. It is vital that the US protect it's interests in Japan as it is of huge strategic importance. Whether or not they planned the nuke event, they had to know a major earthquake could disable these aging and vulnerable plants, if not directly anticipating it. From day 1 the information flow has been one way > directly from TEPCO and independent scientists and journalists have been given no access and/or muzzled.

The MSM media has been very quiet and compliant and the only real sources of true information are coming out of internet sources, naturally it is these ISP's that will be pressured (legally and financially) to comply. This will be for the sake of "national security". This is the propaganda machine escalating to a war footing. I only hope ATS has an ISP with strong nerves and deep pockets.

It's long but I recommend this very much...

Good to see you Wertwog. Glad you found this thread. I couldn't agree with you more. I never in this lifetime, thought that Big Brother would be coming at me from Japan, of all places. As I once posted in the monster thread, I think the drying up of information coincided with Hilary's visit to Japan last week. Loose ends to be tied up between the U.S. and Japan.

I also see, that Japan has become so emboldened in censorship, to the point of using their police, to harass CNN reporters in Fukushima. Japan is slitting their own wrists, if they really think they can get away, with being the info police of the world. Technology has started an uprising before, it can surely do it again.Keep up the great work Wert.
TY for posting that vid...We need to bring over some of the vital posts on this subject from the monster thread. I'll work on that tomorrow.

Wow, George Orwell novel here we come.

1984 anyone ?

Pfft.
Good luck trying to censor 2,984,673,127 forums/blogs/chatrooms/journals/independent news sites/etc gentlemen... time is not on your side.

This is not 1979 (Three Mile Island) or 1986 (Chernobyl)... it's 2011 (Fukishima).
We now live in an age of instant information via internet, emails, faxes, torrents, flash drives, cd/dvd data burning, and so on. No need for newspapers, radios, or televised common MSM news outlets to get our "official" info from.

Where there's a will, there's a way.
People demand to be in the know.

By taking this action Japan and TEPCO are admitting they have something to hide.

There is a way to stop uninformed, incorrect gossip. Its called telling the truth.

The very fact they are openly censoring all information coming out should have the governments of the world up in arms demanding the truth to ensure the protection of the people they are meant to represent.

That they are not is all the evidence you need to conclude they too are in on the silence and are big players in nuclear energy and do not intend to loose their investments. Especially to the truth. An outdated concept.

How dare we ask for the truth when all that is at risk is our and our childrens health. It is not us that cant handle the truth. It is them but we will be expected to pay the price.

Thankyou Destinyone for bringing this vital information - I like many others have followed this from the start and it does deserve its own thread for sure.

So many people are convinced that the fallout is only in Japan - it is not - it is already spreading far and wide.

This is no Longer a Japanese Problem! It is a Global Problem and demands a Global Response but I'm afraid we wont get it before it's too late.

If World Governments go along with Japans wishes then it is all the proof we need that this is Global and their hands are tied - the lack of information through MSM has almost dried up and I really think there isn't anyone anywhere who knows how to stop this thing.

We are on a runaway train with this one and they all bloody know it.

It's a miracle we need now.

What can we do, all we can do is inform those who aren't aware but as for protection - IS THERE ANY?

Fox is still showing many stories about Fukushima, including a new one from today that Fukushima is a "wake up" call. However, the search engine for CNN appears to be broken. It says it has 484 stories with the word "fukushima" in them but it won't show them to me. All I see is a large ad. (ETA: CNN's site search only works in internet exploder, apparently.)

Can someone show a screenshot of an article that has been taken down?

And explain, what is the point of putting it up just to remove it? Why not just not publish it in the first place?

I have just finished watching the second video posted by the Creator of this Thread - Leuren Moret who is a Nuclear Scientist (whistle-blower) and I am shocked to my VERY CORE!

This has to be the most shocking revelation of all time and those of you who have not yet watched this 1. 1/2 hour Presentation should give it your up-most priority if you care anything at all about your loved ones.

This very brave lady lays it on the line in terms that we can all understand - God Help Us All!

Please make this video go viral - the world needs to see what they have done to us and you won't get a more straight forward explanation of what they have done without watching this crucial presentation.

I don't think - after all the threads I've read here on ATS that we will get a more genuine confirmation than we have here thanks to this very astute OP 'Westwog' and the Creator of the Thread Destinyone.

I have already started another thread to bring it to everyones attention I hope Westwor and Denstiny don't mind my doing this - I just think it is vital information.

Perhaps we should all repeat the thread to make sure it get's out.

I read in the space exploration section the USA and Russia say nuclear power will take us to the stars. My gut reaction was a PR job to counteract japan. I now know I was correct.

She answered many questions and points the way to answer more ourselves we need those on ATS to do what they do best. Dig deep on both what she says and more evidence if she is right.

The presenter needs a noble prize, what she will probably recieve is a fatal car accident.

Good Morning Fellow Collective Brain Cells. Japan has now created a whole new ministry of "News Police". Appalling isn't it. I plead with anyone reading this, if you find any information regarding the suppression of information, by the Govt of Japan, please post a link to it here, so we can add to our definitive data. Only by doing this, and it only takes a moment of your time, we might get through to another person reading this thread, the seriousness of this situation. Thank You to all contributing data here. The only "pay" we get for our hard work on ATS, is the satisfaction of knowing, we might, just might, make a difference in another human beings life. Knowledge is a powerful tool. When we can't get that all so important data, from the selfish, greed driven gov't and corporate machines in charge, we MUST dig deep in the cracks to ferret out the nuggets of info, hidden here and there. We'll build our own tools to counteract the BS being spoon fed to us.

Our tool is called TRUTH.

Plutonium and Japan’s censorship of media
Now the Japanese government has moved to crack down on independent reportage and criticism of the government’s policies in the wake of the disaster by deciding what citizens may or may not talk about in public. A new project team has been created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, the National Police Agency, and METI to combat “rumors” deemed harmful to Japanese security in the wake of the Fukushima disaster…..”The measures include erasing any information from internet sites that the authorities deem harmful to public order and morality……. nuclear-news.net...

……There is one particularly telling example of the media shielding TEPCO by suppressing information. This concerns “plutonium”. According to Uesugi, after the reactor blew up on March 14, there was concern about the leakage of plutonium. However, astonishingly, until two weeks later when Uesugi asked, not a single media representative had raised the question of plutonium at TEPCO’s press conferences.

On March 26, in response to Uesugi’s query, TEPCO stated, “We do not measure the level of plutonium and do not even have a detector to scale it.” Ironically, the next day, Chief Cabinet Secretary Edano announced that “plutonium was detected”.

When TEPCO finally released data on radioactive plutonium on March 28, it stated that plutonium -238, -239, and -240 were found in the ground, but insisted that it posed no human risk. Since TEPCO provided no clarification of the meaning of the plutonium radiation findings, the mainstream press merely reported the presence of the radiation without assessment (link). Nippon Television on March 29 headlined its interview with Tokyo University Prof. Nakagawa Keiichi, a radiation specialist, “Plutonium from the power plant—No effect on neighbors.”……..

Now the Japanese government has moved to crack down on independent reportage and criticism of the government’s policies in the wake of the disaster by deciding what citizens may or may not talk about in public. A new project team has been created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, the National Police Agency, and METI to combat “rumors” deemed harmful to Japanese security in the wake of the Fukushima disaster.

Follow the money Friends...follow the money...

The government charges that the damage caused by earthquakes and by the nuclear accident are being magnified by irresponsible rumors, and the government must take action for the sake of the public good. The project team has begun to send “letters of request” to such organizations as telephone companies, internet providers, cable television stations, and others, demanding that they “take adequate measures based on the guidelines in response to illegal information. ”The measures include erasing any information from internet sites that the authorities deem harmful to public order and morality…….Makiko Segawa is a staff writer at the Shingetsu News Agency. She prepared this report from Fukushima and Tokyo. She can be reached at shingetsunewsagency@gmail.com

i know we all know better than to believe what their govt says, but...
i just remembered i started a thread on 18th MARCH entitled...

"Kan promises to disclose all info on Fukushima"...

was just a quickie post to bring the article to ATS before i had to log off, so i didn't really comment on it

www.abovetopsecret.com...

anyway, my title for the thread, i'm 100% positive, was the title of the actual article i was referencing on NHK, & i included a portion of the linked article in the OP, which i'll quote again, here...

"Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan says the government will make every effort to disclose information about the quake-hit Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
Kan made the remark at a meeting with the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, in Tokyo on Friday.

Amano said his agency and the international community are closely following the troubles at the plant and want to cooperate with Japan in dealing with them. He also asked for more information.

Kan said the government, the Self-Defense Forces and police and fire departments are making every effort to deal with the situation.
He also said the government is disclosing all information but that information-gathering efforts might be insufficient.

Kan said the government will improve its information disclosure by taking photos of the plant regularly and stepping up radiation monitoring."

i just went back to my thread, & clicked on my link for the article, which DEFINATELY took me to that article at that time, because i always check my links after posting...

surprise surprise - no article on kan disclosing all fukushima info, dated 18th march!

instead, i get linked to the following article "Kan approval rate rises to 27% from February"
DATED "Monday, April 18, 2011 18:42 +0900 (JST)"

APRIL 18TH... NOT MARCH 18TH!

www3.nhk.or.jp...

so... i either time-slipped, & posted a link to an article in the future

or

NHK have been rather naughty

or

i must have missed my medication...

please, can someone check this out for me? i've tested it out twice, same results both times

cheers

ETA -

googled the title of the article, & no NHK result for it... though it turned up the NHK youtube vid of the same title, which in it's first part, is vertbatum to the article

following that, there's a quick interview with kan, where he reiterates full disclosure, & a desire to "pacify" the concerns of the international community

PACIFY... yea man... that's IT

actual reason i originally went back to my link, was just to see exactly what kan had said regarding "full disclosure" back in march... wasn't expecting the linked article to have vanished...

how... naive... of me

Unless they were to shut down the internet, there's no way the information can be contained. With all the people out there who know how to switch adresses and bounce their actual location around and around, they won't be tracked and stopped. This is an outrage. For any country to say, "Don't tell the truth, it may scare people" is completely insane. So sorry, you're gonna be eating radioactive food, be drinking radioactive water, breathing the stuff too, but we're not gonna tell ya so your not afraid.

Thanks all for the information. It is being hidden. No offense to the ATS mods because they do a herculean task of moderating all our members including a lot of new to the herd numbers - I just cannot fathom how the hiding of radiation data can be construed to be off topic on the nuclear disaster thread? It is not off topic. Radiation and hiding of said radiation or censoring of said radiation is the same relevant topic and we have been dealing with it since page one of the big thread.

Creation of a newer thread on a specific topic does not and should not negate an on-going topic of conversation in the major thread. If you read back in that thread - the lack of information and the hiding of information is what we have been talking about. I fear if we get too many threads going - once again - we will dilute our own findings and make it even more difficult to compile. The entire nuclear monster thread has been about the lack of information and the suppression of information by TEPCO and the government. Dilution - unlike what is happening to the bio-accumulating radiation.

I'm all for dealing with specific topics on specific threads, but that does not cancel any related topic out that is part of the conversation already going on. Nothing can be off topic in the big thread that is related to the nuclear emergency. Newer threads will delve deeper perhaps into specific topics - but all of it is part of a nuclear disaster and the handling of a nuclear disaster.

Just a thought I wanted our mod/members to consider going forward. I was not aware these types of topics were the ones being deleted from the nuclear disaster thread. Is this true? Can we get some help understanding this rationale from ATS? With all due respect - I am confused by this policy. Thanks in advance for the help.

I will share the following here - but it is also posted in the nuclear thread...appropriately because it is about a nuclear disaster and the response to a nuclear disaster.

Here is the MIC, ministry of communication , Government of Japan's new censorship directive letter in original form Japanese: www.soumu.go.jp...

And, here is the same Gov't document translated to English:

ETA: FYI, if you go to the second/translated link above, you will find another "active" link on that page. Click on that link, it will take you to translated internal memos in the MIC agency. Keep finding any active links in pages to dig deeper. I think you will be shocked, now that's a mild word, to see what is in this document.

I am with you 100%! And to think they're had overunity capabilities in black ops for over 50 years!

"Free energy" hidden away as they let the money hungry build up the deadly nuclear plants unnecessarily.

EDIT to add: There are still people out there that are saying, "But it's not as bad as Chernobyl!" Do they even have a clue? It was called the equal by someone recently, and I can't help thinking that four plants - one with MOX - could in any way be less than the single plant at Chernobyl. The fact that they're clamping down on information flow is a BIG red flag that this is far worse than Chernobyl.

As I said I figured it was on March 11.
