Dead people in dreams?

Is it normal to have good friends die in dreams? Is it normal to have the same person dying every night, and having that dream for weeks, but every night they die a little different? I don't know what to think!

I would say:
You fear some sort of approval by your friend/friends.
You imagine their death as a freedom from having to pass their judgement.
I just made that up, probably COMPLETELY wrong, but made sense to me.
