Your friend is high profile...I definitely would not have posted that picture...and if i did, I would have left out her last name. I did a FB search, and before i finished typing, her profile came up.

Take the planet, shrink the surface 99.9%, and you get the internet.

Some will say that she is too masculine. Nah. She looks like a women in amazing physical condition to me. I have been lifting weights for a a couple of years now, and know just how difficult it is to get in that kind of shape. It takes a complete dedication and sheer determination. Thats where I have always fallen short on my goals. To me, that is whats sexy about a woman like her. She is a symbol of personal achievement, not someone trying to fit the mold of what society says a woman should look like. A disregard for what is considered the norm, is what I find attractive in a woman.

To all the people out there that don't think they are being conditioned into believing that;

Thin = Good,
Anything other than Thin = Bad.

Ask yourselves. Do you think that you truly believe this because it's your own personal preference. Or could it be that you were taught to believe this by your Parents, Peers and The Media?

Also for all the singles out there that believe that;

Thin = Good,
Anything other than Thin = Bad.

Ask yourselves, are you dismissing someone that could potentially be the love of your life because they are 10+ pounds over what you have been made to believe or percieve to be an ideal weight?

Ask yourselves, because someone is skinny, does that make them a better person then someone who is overweight?

The conditioned answer to that would be 'Yes'... Because you have been made to believe that even half an inch of fat is bad and if someone is carrying a bit of weight they should be overlooked, because they are bad and disgusting.

The non conditioned answer would be 'No'... because you have your wits about you and realise that Fat or Thin, we are all human and we still have good and bad traits regardless of our different shapes and sizes.

If your body type is naturally skinny then I have no problem.

If you know your bone structure is that of a average or slightly chubby person, don't try to be skinny.

I've seen so many hollywood people try to lose weight and do but now lool weird because their natural body type isn't skinny

I know if I forced myself to gain 30 pounds I I would look weird because my bone structure and body type is slim athletic (sprinters body - and because I tried lol).

But anyway, I didn't see the picture but I perfer my women to be healthy skinny or a lil chubby. We must remember body fat is beneficial to a certain extent.

I feel like ill hurt a skinny female in bed lol

I always chalked the change up to the industrial revolution. Pre-industrial revolution, the wealthy women sat in the house all day, feeding their pale faces, because they could afford to. Fat and pale were appealing because of status and wealth. The poor ladies all worked in the fields and were thin, lean, and tanned from being under the sun all day.

Well, when the industrial revolution came along, women worked indoors. Soon the poor could afford more substantial food. And the working woman became fuller and lighter complected.

This had to change both sides of the fence, because there has to be a noticeably different appearance in the upper classes. So, it became the "it" thing to be thin and tan. And that's why that is what is "sexy" today. It's all about social order.

I dunno.... but I think in general men don't like chicks on the chubby side or fat chicks... I don't mean they like twigs either.... but I think most men in general perfer a women who has a flat stomach, small waist, wide hips, large round breast and a tight, round, perky butt... it probably has something to do with mating, like that would be a prime indicator of a healthy, strong women to reproduce with... although there are plenty of men who like women of all shapes and sizes
edit on 22-4-2011 by amp1214 because: (no reason given)

And I think that girl still fits the bill of what men like... they like a body type like hers wether shes thinner or a little bigger... Like she could lose 20 pounds and she still would have the small waist to hip ratio etc.

She is hot! She isn't fat or chubby! She is muscle!

I blame the fashion industry and hollywood for the thin is cool look. It's disgusting if you ask me to see bones and no shape on a woman. Im petite frame and I wish I had more meat on my bones and I hate being called skinny, its just as insulting as calling someone fat.

I mean look at fashion magazines and how PHOTOSHOPPED ALL the pics are of the models in the magazine. It has gotten worse. So when girls or women read these magazines they are seeing the fake celeb basically, the enhanced version not how they really look.

I never cared for the waif look, thanks Kate Moss...well Twiggy was first

Still those women are just small framed but it caused a sensation and all models had to be rail thin until recently. If I were a designer I would want women with curves and a figure to wear my clothes not some chick with the body of a 12 yr old boy......

Um no she wouldn't be anorexic.

You do know that someone who is thin isnt always anorexic and as someone who is small I get annoyed when someone says I am anorexic cause I am far from it..

Yes she is a 10 I agree

Interesting article...I have to take exception with your theory at the the end though. Especially the 'thin people need less food to survive' part. Its actually quite the opposite. Thin people burn food much faster, because of their high metabolism. Large people burn food slowly, due to their slow metabolism....now in our society large people equals Fat people, but this was not the case in harder times. The people with slow metabolisms were generally the ones who survived long periods without food, in fact I have heard a theory that it is America's pioneer ancestors which helped America to be fat today...those with slow metabolisms survived longer to have more children, in times when food was scarce, while those with fast metabolisms died off quickly the first drought or food famine. The only problem is those same genes which saved the American pioneers have also doomed us to obesity, now that food is 'aplenty'!

As a side note, I have a good friend who is only attracted to women that are quite huge....I'm talking 300 pounds easy. Its certainly not that he can not get slim women, as I personally saw quite a few extremely attractive, yet slim women hit on him whenever we went out to a bar or club. When they left, he would usually reply something along the lines of "man I wish she would leave me alone.....her legs don't even rub together"! LOL! He had no Idea why he was the way he was...but he was really 'passionate' about the types of women he liked....Personally I don't mind a girl who is a little thick either, but no where near to the level he did, so It was nice having him as my wingman...we would never hit on the same women!

I apoligize in advance to Caroline who I'm using as an example, Caroline, if you ever see this, I'm sorry... but I also might be getting you new fans.
Caroline Wozniacki has been one of my favorite women's tennis players for a few years, and she is now #1 in the world. I have also heard many of my friends comment that she is a "little chubby" or even "fat," and that they would prefer a skinnier girl.

She certainly is not skinny, but that doesn't automatically make her fat, does it? Yes, she is a big strong girl, but that doesn't keep her from being beautiful on the tennis court.

I thought my friends were maybe a little crazy to think the #1 tennis player in the world could be called "chubby." But then I saw an ad in Tennis Magazine where her legs were clearly photoshopped or airbrushed to make her look thinner, and to the trained eye, it was obvious. She looked unnatural.

And it's certainly not just Caroline whose pictures are being enhanced. It is quite often I see a famous woman's picture edited to make her look thinner, sometimes so much so that it is obvious that the picture has been tinkered with.

I can see how big, muscular men could be attractive to women, because they are likely to be strong and able to protect and provide for their family. But why has thinness become such an important factor for beauty in women? There are advantages to being thin, but there seem to be many more disadvantages. Thinness being equated with beauty has led to an increase in eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia, it increases health risks during childbirth if the woman has a very low percentage of body fat, makes you more vulnerable to the cold and to physical attacks, and makes you weaker. So what is the deciding factor that made thin beautiful? And how far back in history do we have to go before we see that thin is beautiful?

I think it has a lot to do with how men percieve women. Go back a two hundred years to the dawn of industrialization with more traditional families, and even to an extent today, men wanted women who were more submissive and would fulfill their social roles without complaint. A smaller, slender woman would be percieved by men as more submissive and obedient because they are physically weaker and visibly smaller.

But I don't think it's just social roles, it has a lot to do with industrialization too. It seems to me the most industrialized countries have the highest standard for thinness. The standard in America is pretty high, as thinner women are much more sought after by men, and most chubby or fat women strive to lose weight and become more like thin women. Just think of Weight Watchers, you never see a normal thin woman strive to be bigger, it's always bigger women striving to be thinner. But take a walk through Tokyo, Japan, and America's standard is no comparison. There simply are no fat women in Tokyo. What many Americans like myself consider normal is considered fat in Japan. And Tokyo is more industrialized, more technologically advanced, and more isolated from nature than any American cities. So what is it about industrialization that might make us want to percieve thin women as beautiful?

I believe it's subconscious attitudes we have about society that drive us to think thin women are more beautiful. This subconscious attitude has to do with evolution and survival of the fittest. The more industrialized an area is, the more densely populated the area is. We know that thin people need less food to eat, take up less space, and are more fit for surviving on limited resources. This is important because with a more dense population, there are less resources per person, so being able to do more with less resources is important.

This concept may not ring as true today, but it did at the dawn of industrialization when the Proletariat was forming into a definite social group. Living in slums, often unemployed, often living on little food, the Proletariat by necessity spawned a generation of thinner women because of their constant work and little food. If you were a male factory worker who was living in harsh conditions, you would be able to associate with thinner women more because their thinness was a mark of their struggle to survive. A bigger woman may have been looked down on by the majority of the Proletariat because her good health was a mark of her affluence.

As time went on, the Proletariat started to dominate city life and city culture, and city culture started to dominate the world culture, so the Proletariat's view that thinner women are more desirable became the world's view.

YOU consider that woman 'beautiful', or even thin?

A normal man wouldn't wan't annorexic women. Pretty simple really. If he wants a decent sex life.

Although, this lady has no anoerexia.

Looks healthy to me.

Fat women are usually after child birth, and I don't like Feminazis' but, if they don't promote natural women under natural conditions, then who is their following?

I wouold love a fat woman after giving a child for sure, for I am a man.

I think men are attracted to women with flatter stomachs, because it shows that shes is not pregant already... when men are attracted to women they subconciously want to impreganate them... thats why they would chose someone with a flat stomach over someone with a round belly... the flat stomached person has less chances of being impregnanted already... the lady with the round tummy is harder to tell visually if shes impregnanted already... men are very visual with mating cues are very visually based....

Well done matey, said it better than me...

Ahhh that does not mean coveting another man's wfe as all of us world round have done...

An unpregneant woman does not mean an unmarried lady. I would remeber that...

I don't think she is in the least bit masculine, she is a stunning woman, very attractive and with nicely, not overly developed musculature...but she is still conforming to the mass media in how she adorns that physique, she is still selling more than a little 'sex' to pay for the many hours she must have to spend in the gym. Despite the dedication and hard work that her body reflects, she has seemingly chosen to mold herself on Lara Croft, including the clearly augmented bust line, in order to pay the bills.

This is a very good point. I have very low body fat, thin, wirey type, and in cold weather my hands and feet are continuously cold, I have to eat continuously (mainly Snickers bars
) throughout winter to keep warm. Even in summer I still struggle to eat more than I can burn.

Respect man... massive respect to you to go against the norms and develop your own unique desires.

And now I wonder, how did you manage to get away from following the norm like everyone else? Could you share some of your story.

1. She's not remotely fat or chubby. People need their eyes checked.

But why has thinness become such an important factor for beauty in women?

My husband has a theory that the thinness seen in fashion models is directly related to the fact most fashion designers for women are gay. The logic is sound. A gay guy would want a more boyish thin figure (small butt, small breasts, no waist) and not be so attracted to an hourglass figure like the bombshell pinups of the 1930's - 1950's had. Ewwww!

That also explains why clothes aren't designed for women with hourglass figures. It's really frustrating to find clothes you like and have to be shaped literally like a twig to get into them. And I'm not that big. I'm a size 8-10 with a small waist, but hips. Jeans are simply not designed for women with meat on their bottoms,
so I go vintage.

Personally, I like a little meat on the bones, she looks healthy.
Why would I want to caress a jagged, boney, sickly looking women?

People are lunatics!
Hell, if you all don't want the "chubbies", I'll be glad to take em all for myself.
Enjoy your bone bags guys.
