Then why these quotes?
‘A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it..’— Max Planck
‘First a new theory is attacked as absurd; then it is admitted to be true, but obvious and insignificant; finally it is seen to be so important that its adversaries claim they themselves discovered it.’— William James
‘New ideas pass through three periods:
• It can’t be done.
• It probably can be done, but it’s not worth doing.
• I knew it was a good idea all along.’ — Arthur C. Clarke
Mainstream science is infamous for this, pretending that they do know everything, throughout history. This magnet thing is only one example of thousands of subjects in which scientists try to maintain an appearance of omniscience, which can be detected primarily when new ideas arise, their response. Most often I've seen these ideas attacked and dismissed out of hand without ever being considered. This is exactly why we don't understand things, because science has been politicized.
