Be careful! I got mine up before the storm even hit. Had them dressed and ready to hide under the stairs in less than a minute. Awesome tornado drill at the very least.

I am over in fort wayne indiana, and as it passed over our plateau I thought for sure we were going to get smacked. Was about to toss the kids in the tub and get the mattresses over it.

Be careful over there, friend. Every time I've seen a storm act like this, that area of Ohio pays the price.

See, we sit on a plateau starting to the west of us. every time a storm comes through, it passes north or south of us, like a rock in a river. Then, when it comes back together to our east, it, again, just like water in a river, gets really turbulent.

So be safe over there. This storm is NOT right. Not at all.

Well I was wrong... we just went through another round of warnings and sirens ..only now WITH HAIL YAY. Over for the most part right now ..so we will see how it works out for the rest of the evening here.

The one thing i noticed that got repeated a lot was that these storms were not like normal ones and that the tornadoes produced were a lot more wicked then normal. I get twitchy around tornadoes because as a kid we were hit by an F5 ( Niles Oh, May 31st 1985) and that day was clear sky then it was like the 7th circle of hell...so whenever we get weather like this I am all over the news and such. My room mates laugh, but I don't think they get how fast it can happen, just because the weather guy says its somewhere else doesn't mean it cannot drop down on top of you .. so to everyone be safe !

Well crud. There was an accident. The wind caused one driver for Black horse carriers to blow over. He's in the hospital.

Im in SW Virginia area. Whats up with those green rings on the radar screen before the storm in the SE? Is that from weather stations?

Just heard from my night owl aunt, living in Cincinnati, OH, that sirens are going off. She is also reporting EXTREMELY STRONG WINDS and saying that the sky is pink.

You say Tomado, I say Tomahto

Things have come to a pretty pass,
Our romance is growing flat,
For you like this and the other
While I go for this and that.
Goodness knows what the end will be;
Oh, I don't know where I'm at...
It looks as if we two will never be one,
Something must be done.
You say eether and I say eyether,
You say neether and I say nyther;
Eether, eyether, neether, nyther,
Let's call the whole thing off!
You like potato and I like potahto,
You like tomato and I like tomahto;
Potato, potahto, tomato, tomahto!
Let's call the whole thing off!
But oh! If we call the whole thing off,
Then we must part.
And oh! If we ever part,
Then that might break my heart!
So, if you like pajamas and I like pajahmas,
I'll wear pajamas and give up pajahmas.
For we know we need each other,
So we better call the calling off off.
Let's call the whole thing off!

The storm came though here around midnight. It was hailing really hard for about 10 minutes or so, but then a lot of thunder and lightening. I'm thankful the power didn't go out, as it usually does. On the morning news a little while ago was showing lots of trees down on houses and power out in a lot of Memphis. We're still under a tornado watch for most of the morning. Hopefully it will clear up some by this afternoon.

Thanks for the lead-in! I'm up in the Chicago burbs, and we got
smacked last night with a wall of water like my whole county
was in a giant car wash. Bear cage with a toilet stapled to it.

I could have wondered about this visual anomaly in regard to
the Doppler radar images. This was commonly explained by
weathermen before and for years as "Doppler ghosting"--
or the inability of a Doppler transceiver station to give an
image of precipitation within a certain radius of the station.
It's been happening on EVERY fast growing storm around
my neck of the woods, or the path of any viably changing
storm front path. I'm likely dreaming too, but is it a VLF
circle concentrating/stirring the soup??

Question: is the Marseilles Doppler radar actually just
radar? Let the dervishes whirl, and flame me as you please.
