The Final Warning to Tokyo

I assume you have been watching the SSZ. Quakes have been getting closer and closer to it and Tokyo.

Any thoughts on the matter? It seems to be making a line towards Tokyo....

No, the quakes aren't getting closer to Tokyo.

But that is not to say that Tokyo is safe.

Today's 6.7 quake mostly affected the Iwate area and Sendai.

No tusnami, no damage and no deaths reported yet.

Was this just one of the numerous `aftershocks`or is this paving the way to another big one?

Not sure... been busy. It looks like a new quake. I will see if I can track that down later

So its likely just a strong after shock. I guess it depends how long we keep calling them aftershocks.

There was a 6.7 on June 22

A very good article, I came across. They say the ocean floor is more distorted now at the triple junction, than before the 9. Sort of verifies what TA has been saying. www.npr.org...

Could that be because he didn't supply facts and calculations to back up the claim.

Just what is the density of the rocks in the area, what heat is involved and how do we know these are not normal after shocks that follow most major quakes.

Yes i agree the ring of fire seems to be on the move but it's a very big ring and we need more than a few pictures to convince us that the OP is anymore qualifiyed than J6P (Joe six pack) to make such a prediction if not based on science.

Correct me if i'm wrong but a 4.9 would not even be percived more than a few miles away by people standing on the ground and is well within exspectations of a normal after shock.

I circled in red a quake that is getting mighty close to the triple juncture. Not good. The quakes have stayed away pretty much from that area before until recently. The earth in Japan is still reacting to the massive displacement from the 9+, and will for years to come. I just wish it wasn't so darn close to the plate junctures (for those of you that subscribe to tectonics. )

Lots of interesting info within your thread TA. If I lived in Japan I would have migrated elsewhere after the nuclear stuff up.
The Philippine sea buoy has been bouncing around for the last few days now.

I'd be off and away from Taiwan as well.

Well I don't know about the buoys, but things seem to be heating up all over again in Japan, with a new 6.2 right on the SSZ line:

I don't recall there being one at that location before in the sequence. I thought maybe Japan might be out of trouble, but as I have stated many times before- lookout, it is an unstable area of plate junctures which can rupture at any time. And they are clearly reacting to the massive activity up northeast that happened.

That may be the closest to Tokyo yet, not sure.

Which may mean that for the upcoming days/weeks/months the Tokyo area may now just be reacting and adjusting to the big March 11th quake. There's no telling... But when I see one that close, combined with the one recently on the SSZ, no wonder Japan is finally talking about evacuation plans for Tokyo. It is a miracle the city has not taken a direct hit yet with all the quake activity that has literally hit just about everywhere BUT Tokyo to this point.

I agree with you. This morning's 9:30a.m. 1 second quake was just north of Tokyo above Saitama. It was stronger than what was felt in Tokyo on March 11th. If the quake would have lasted more than 3 seconds, things would have started to fall.

It was very frightening and it could indicate an instability on the Tokai plate under Tokyo. We've had several 1 second shakes in the past several days since the earthquake near Fuji. They're getting stronger.

I can only hope to survive an initial damaging quake so that it will wake up and scare the people in Tokyo enough to leave. That's our only chance. If not, then we're probably all dead.

Right now I'm feeling my entire apartment sway gently. My office building is also gently making me seasick. I think the plate under us is soft and moving. When trains go by, the apartment shakes now. It didn't before.

That is interesting and could suggest a few things:

1) There has been a change in ground density, allowing you to feel the trains- or
2) There is a new track running since the quake, closer to your apartment- or
3) You have become hypersensitive since the big one, and pay attention where you didn't before.

Hey, I really appreciate your comments ren, seeing as you are there, and your comments are pertinent.

The fact that you say they are getting stronger, and that 4+ felt stronger than the 9 did in Toyko, is perplexing.

Many People here in Kanto are Earthquake Sick,
this is a common and well known Effect after big Quakes!

But Tokyo "is" floating on a Sea of Magma, always since ancient Times
and without a doubt!

I tried to find out how quick the Inner Core/s are running
but until now i do not found reliable Sources

I am hypersensitive to all ground shaking now. That is probably the main reason.
However, tremors have been increasing since the 6.1 quake in the sea near Fuji.
Tokyo is resting on a sea of magma and when things like coal burn underground it makes noise and tremors.

I found out that the 1 second quake yesterday felt stronger than on March 11th because the origin of the quake was the closest to me of any quake I've felt.

but in the last Weeks there was many Discussions
about the Fault-Lines in Kanagawa, Tokyo, Saitama, Toshigi and Chiba
and the related Risk.

The Kanto-Plain has no Coal, the Ground is made by Slip Rock and Debris, Swamp and Sand.
