1932 Presidential Campaign - Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt

1932 Presidential Campaign - Republican Herbert Hoover

1936 Presidential Campaign - Republican Alf Landon

1940 Presidential Campaign - Republican Wendell Willkie

1948 Presidential Campaign - Republican Thomas E. Dewey

1948 Presidential Campaign - Democrat Harry S. Truman

Here is something you might find very interesting

1952 Presidential Campaign - Democrat Adlai Stevenson

1956 Presidential Campaign - Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower

I hope you like the videos I was able to find of these
speeches. Unfortunately that was an era where
recording was not so easy. What we do have must be
treasured and that is what I hope all of you will do.

Also it is my hope that you see how campaigns and
speeches were back then. A Republican in 1940
calling himself a proud Liberal, that would never be
tolerated in today's GOP. And Ronald Reagan bashing
Republicans for siding with corporations against the
workers while endorsing Democrat Harry Truman,
that is amazing as well.

These are very excellent videos and I hope it just
does not sink down on ATS. Most would love to see
these videos. So technically this is a *bump*.

1960 Presidential Debates between (D) John F. Kennedy and (R) Richard M. Nixon.

I know it doesn't fit the 1932-1956 time frame but it is still amazing.

I am trying to keep it historical before the era most of us here on ATS would remember so pretty much pre-1980.

It is an awesome thread idea, to see the evolution of campaign speeches over time. Something I never really thought about too much until now.

Holy crap, that is amazing! Gonna take me a few days to watch all of those at least! I applaud the effort. I am really surprised only 8 flags so far. My prediction is that it starts out from positive, and ends in mudslinging in chronological order.

It really is eye opening to see the evolution of political speeches. They really go from talking about values and principles to politics and distractions. Pretty much it goes from passionate and heart felt words to hollow words.

This was not a campaign ad but it was a very great video of John F. Kennedy attacking Richard Nixon in 1960.
