Perhaps.. They know something is coming down the line and they're making their own mark that'll withstand all that comes, like so many before us did. There's no denying they did either, with the pyramids, the faces on the stone etc. Just for the future inhabitants to look at and ponder while they try to imagine what it is because the ego demands an answer with every other theory being formed up for that extra special ingredient many enjoy the most: fear.

I was thinking it looks like a government survey marker. So they made it bigger so it wouldn't disappear or worse.

I agree with mikellmikell I'm sure they had surveyors out there to mark off certain spots for buildings or whatever..from the aerial photo you posted it looks like some kind of foundation was there at one time. Cheers coco

Ok, so a Govt building was there. Look at the overhead view. Man made rectangle outline of a building.
But, why was it torn down? Why was it there in the first place?

its 10 miles to the east of Bigelow's Skinwalker Ranch. Bigelow owns Bigelow Aerospace which works directly with NASA.

skinwalker was purchased in 1994, cattle mutilations happened in 1980s next to this exact spot. Bottle Hollow Resevoir constrctured around 1979

TLRS is "Transportable Laser Ranging System". Google it for more information.

I'll "third" that it is a survey marker. The pad was poured with mounts for gear.

George Knapp will probably not be very friendly to inquiries regarding the ranch since some jerks are always messing around the ranch, leaving trash, etc. He mentions this often on Coast to Coast.

i'm sure the accidental and hastly left trash has nothing to do with a team of burly ex airforce MP heavily armed BAASS guards with loaded guns, dogs, and ATVs.. being on private property off of Bigelow's ranch's property.... but hey what would i know.... Think Knapp should worry more about Mr. B's own property and not neighboring ones and illegal tactics by Nevada liscensed security personel.

I believe that THIS is what was meant to be there...or was there...or will be there again?? It's the VLBI.

Taking measurements of the earth's crustal movement by using quasars.
They are just keeping an eye on the San Andreas Fault.
Maybe they accidently hit some cattle with their lasers when it fell over.

I got the impression they were sensing a quasar from multiple locations, then comparing time delay of the radio signal between stations to determine changes in earth diameter. The location of the sites is needed as part of the computatIon.

It is an interesting find, though nothing nefarious going on.

There is a USGS website with search engine to find monuments like this. NAIS or NIAS, something like that. I've used it in the past to check the accuracy of my GPS.

And I’m curious if anything has happened on the sites of the other markers,
Who do you think they trying to tell,( yes its ok you can mutilate, fly and hover around here, you have our permission.)

And I’m wondering if there are any low frequency’s coming from this.
And maybe they didn’t move the location of the building; they just removed the surface cover.

I added the USGS monument link to the previous post. There are many more markers than you find on that website. There are DMA (Defense Mapping Agency) markers on the Nellis range. Counties usually have markers along the border. Hike enough hills and ridges, you find a lot of markers. I can't say I ever found a NASA marker.

The marker on Tikaboo is an interesting oddity. The USGS never stamped the altitude. Somebody scratched in 8000ft, which is a bit higher than actual.

Back to that USGS site, some markers are listed as satellite observable. They have a large, permanent X. When you pay to have a site mapped, they put down a large paper X. It lasts long enough until they fly the satellite over it. Google trespassed on a parcel of undeveloped land I own and plopped down the large X. Pissed me off. The google photo / wifi sniffer car caught me today too.

Here it is in the USGS database with a few more significant digits. This one mentions laser ranging, so that aids the laser cattle mutilation theory. ;-) The pad is easily seen in Google Earth. The old seismic station must be to the east of the pad.
