the govt CAN create jobs

do you know anything about the works projects during the last great depression?
did you know many THOUSANDS of jobs were created during the 30's - 40's?
many dam projects, roads, schools, hospitals, power plants, national parks, and on and on? the entire infrastructure of the nation was overhauled due to the govt creating jobs

The New Deal might have created more jobs, but it did it by spending more money. It also created a lot of things that people seem to be against now like government subsidies with the Agricultural Adjustment Act and Soil Conservation Act and Unions with the National Labour Relations Act. It even created agencies to allocate money to businesses that were in debt.

One of the things it did that we could have used this time around was have the Home Owners Loan Corporation give money to lenders to help people pay off their mortgages.

I think the government tried to do that with the stimulus package, but this time around they gave the money to the banks and let them keep the houses.

the govt taxed the rich more than twice the rate they are taxed today.. look at the tax rates on the high income citizens. at one time it was near a 90% tax.

the wealthy paid their fair share of taxes back then and that is what is the biggest difference. this time around the wealthy have not paid their fair share.

Absolutely right rebeldog. If any of these people actually cared to study and learn (and I assume that they dont, because the information is freely out there), they would understand that when they want us to go back in time to "a true free market", they are trying to go back to a time WHEN THE RICH WERE TAXED MORE THAN THEY ARE NOW.

They want no legal restrictions on businesses and no taxes for rich business owners.....now who could have ever implanted that opinion in their head? They are pining for some America that only existed in Rockefellers and Morgans wildest dreams.

That was a great video. I thought one of the top 3 would be getting Obama's long form birth certificate. I guess that's #4.

I am not surprised, stunned or shocked that the GOP are going after the lower and middle class instead of doing anything about creating some jobs in this country. I believe it was foretold.

Those "hand outs" didnt explode the budget, TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH DID THAT!
Do some research.

Bill Clinton balanced the budget; it was Republican tax cuts for the rich under Bush and the IRAQ WAR and bailout of the rich under Bush that exploded the budget

I had a hard time getting through that video because for some stupid reason he has to lick his fingers before turning pages, a habit which is really annoying and disgusting. *shutters*

If the Government can just create jobs so simply how come the Democrats won't make a "job bill"? The democrats controlled all three houses for 2 years and seemed to spend most of their time asking the GOP for permission to function. If they can fix America so easily why won't they just do it? The Dems need to grow a pair and stand up for what they want.

So you think we should ingore the deficit and debt and just keep spending money we do not have? Do you think it will be worse if we have Obama crash the economy and dollar? It would be.

All your precious socialist hand outs would be gone. We need to show the owners of our debt and those who still use our currency that we are trustworthy and will cut back on deficit spending. This cut was a joke - it was so small compared to what we need to do to pull out of the crash.

If you are dependent on government handouts, get yourself weaned and fast.

never said we should ignore the deficit and debt as it should be our main issue...the socialist handouts don't work anyways...i personally don't live off of welfare...live poorly but i DONT take food stamps because I'd rather not rely on a broken bs system in the first place and add to the problem...i say change the way obama said it...except i'm not full of sh*t and lies like he was...they're so willing to make cuts to further burden the lower class and middle class yet our spending for military has never been higher...go get yourself weaned you shill

No worries, just raise the debt limit! Let's see how tall we can build this house of cards before it collapses!

Dumbasses.

Invest in gold people. The dollar is soon to be worthless.

Oh, I did not realize debate and voting was dependent upon one's military service. That is because it is not.

I thought through the ignorance of socialism by the time I was in the eigth grade. Our constitutional Republic is far superior as is show by what is happening today with that unconstitutional monster we call Federal government. The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money. That is where the US is now.

This idea that spending more money can help the situation is completely unfounded and ridiculous. More than that, it's actually kind of insulting that people are still spouting this crap like we don't know any better.

If that were the case then Obama would already be the best President ever, instead of one of the absolute worst. Take a look at the numbers here.

In the first 19 months of the Obama administration, the federal debt held by the public increased by $2.5260 trillion, which is more than the cumulative total of the national debt held by the public that was amassed by all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Ronald Reagan.

And just look where that has gotten us.

But yeah....spending more money is definitely the answer!

I believe that the "New Deal" got the money it needed to finance their new programs by taking more money from the average citizen. They didn't increase taxes to the rich to finance these new government programs. Instead they cut the wages of government employees and to government programs; That and they repealed prohibition so that they got a big chunk of change on liquor sales.
