Did Barack Obama stop the program? No. So the relevance as to who started the program is, well, irrelevant. We all know that GW and BO work for the same shadow-government, elite, what-have-you, so it is more an issue about those in control rather than the individual in the POTUS seat.

I actually would like to see Obama change something that GW Bush instituted when he was in office, but alas he hasn't. But that's off-topic. The issue is here and now. Let's see how Obama handles the issue. My guess is he won't even acknowledge it.

Bush:

"The U.S. money for Syrian opposition figures began flowing under President George W. Bush after he effectively froze political ties with Damascus in 2005."

Bush removes ambassador to Syria
Bush freezes all of Assads bank accounts and assets
Bush funds opposition groups to Assad, including Barada TV to the tune of $6m

Obama:

Jan 20 2009 Obama sworn in
Obama re-appoints an ambassador to Syria
April 2009, state department cables question continuing funding opposition groups as Obama pushes for "bilateral relations" with Assad.

"The Obama administration has reached out to Assad’s regime, hoping to persuade it to change its policies regarding Israel, Lebanon, Iraq and support for extremist groups. In January, the U.S. stationed an ambassador in Damascus, the capital, for the first time in five years."

Drivers of U.S. Syrian Relations Under the Obama Administration

June 2009: The failures of the Bush Doctrine and the global economic crisis will shape the Obama administration’s Middle East policies in its first two years. While economic recovery is increasingly the administration’s top priority, there are indications that diplomacy and reconciliation efforts will determine Washington’s new strategy in the region as it abandons Bush’s failed policies on the war on terror, extended military campaigns, unilateralism, and preemptive strikes.

Against this background, relations with Iran and the controversy over its nuclear program will dominate the Obama administration’s Middle East policy. The president has already made several conciliatory gestures toward Iran, including addressing the Iranian people in a Nowruz festival message on March 21. The importance of Iran was underlined in the same month in an article by Richard Haass and Martin Indyk entitled “A Time for Diplomatic Renewal: Toward a New U.S. Strategy in the Middle East.” (from link above)

Who funded the opposition groups? Bush (and that was only part of his "pressure" on Syria)

Who questioned the funding as he made concilatory measures to Syria? Obama
This occured within a few months of his being sworn in, hardly enough time to him to even learn of this program, much less make a decision to reverse state department policy that was already set in motion by Bush.

In fact if Obama's state department hadn't been questioning the program in it's diplomatic cables, YOU or ANYONE else would never have heard of it, as the cables don't go beyond 2007.

So if you want to demonize anyone over the US funding Syrian opposition groups, that would be BUSH.

You should know, all the NGO groups including the NED The National Endowment for Democracy are supporting and creating the uprisings that we have seen on the news in the middle east.

In Libya the only american interest there is money, oil, control cutting of Chinese and russian supply lines, rather then starting a war with libya with us grounds forces in the ground, they used the NGO groups, including Islamic terrorists.

Meaning obama is the same as bush, follows the same policy, all the uprisings that we are seeing in the news are all created by these NGO profited government NGOs, sure these claims they arent non governmental run, and non profit, but they are running the same agenda as the american government.

The US is in no large way behind the upheaval in the ME, quite the contrary because the instability in the ME has posed far more problems than benefits for US.

Times have changed and the youth through to the elders of many countries in the ME are tired of being controlled, afraid to speak, of having no rights, so called emergency rule, afraid to live, can’t do anything which thier establishments or their controlling religious bigots don’t like.

The people are fed up with being told by their regimes that the west is their enemy and that this is the only way to protect their countries from those conspiring against them. Whilst these same regimes revel in their corruption and greed that deprives the people of a better way of life and better way of living without daily fear and shortage of food etc etc etc.

The world is a much smaller place today and in recent year’s access to information has transformed people’s perspectives of how they see themselves and the rest of the world. They now know the truth and no longer believe what they have been told by their corrupt so called self proclaimed protecting regimes.

They are much more enlightened than many give them credit for and do not want the BS anymore and are prepared to die to force change so that they can have albeit a small say in how and the way they live.

Many people of these countries have good friends across the west and find that they are nothing like westerners have been portrayed by the powers that be.

Their leaders and their corrupt cronies are the real terrorists and monsters on this planet and they are the ones that have and still continue to draw their countries into dispute with the west and slightly more civilised nations.

If these regimes did not exist and their governments were democratically elected to represent the people then conflicts with the west in particular would not happen.

The protesters just want to be free, have a right to choose and have an opinion, no different from you and I. Would we not fight for the same? have we not fought for the same!

I am not saying that the west and western governments are in anyway close to being good enough but it’s still a dam site better than they have!!

It’s all just a long overdue awakening and another result of globalization and easy access to information and knowledge.

Good luck to them!!!

US is just creating the right conditions for a greater israel to be established.

Once that is done, the Western nations will be left to burn to hell with mass immigration and economic depression.

For those who still believe that this 'change' is only good for the ME'ern people, tell me what new 'change' has taken place that has improved their lives?

You know how a car mechanic replaces the brake pads with new ones once they have worn out? That's exactly what US is doing in Middle East and Africa at the moment.

These same muslims were peaceful intelligent people before 9/11 for 1400 years, now suddenly they have all become blood thirsty terrorists aiming to establish a caliphate?

How many times does the same story have to be repeated for the masses to understand that this is just a huge manipulative game the zionists elites are playing.

"Ordo ab Chao"

Does anyone remember that adage, where it's from and who used it?

Does it not seem an effective strategy to carry out what is being done right now?

I beg people to understand that this is not partisan ideology here.... this is way beyond that.

You may think it was Bush or Obama, or whomever but in reality, it didn't matter who was the elected face-man of glory... this is a doctrine. It transcends political theater... which is why you see multiple countries participating in it ALL THE TIME...

Just because American idiots are being put up there as "caught red-handed" doesn't mean they are alone in this practice.

Look past the media spin, look past the rhetoric of division, and see the real beast which plays them like the puppet tools they are.

What you guys think this is just Syria?

Egypt protests: secret US document discloses support for protesters
www.telegraph.co.uk...
In the midst of all of this, what does Lady Clinton say?

"Today the long Arab winter has begun to thaw. For the first time in decades, there is a real opportunity for lasting change," she told Arab and US policymakers in Washington last night.

www.telegraph.co.uk...

"Change"
You remember that?
Brings back memories doesn't it?

It worked for suckers in the west, and since there's another one born every minute they are now trying it in the east.

but what about extremists? Many of these governments have kept them in check. If these government falls then the extremists will take over. Look at Libya some of these rebels are the very same Al Qaida fighters who fought against our troops in Iraq

The US wants extremists in power. They've always supported and back extremists. The extremists are able to torture the population into submission, and this is exactly what the US wants as long as the resources are in the hands of the Americans.

Caught red handed. See the civil war in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Syria, etc. All these countries are overthrowing the govts. because the U.S. is instigating the opposition by funding them.

And that is a problem how?

I see someone needs to brush up on how the Government operates. Why dont you check on the select committees for intelligence? Congress controls the purse strings, not the President. Blaming Bush has always been humerous, since both houses of Congress were controlled by Democrats. They could have stopped both wars before they started by

A - No passing the AUOF
B - Not paying for the deployment.

As far as this incident goes, who cares? These games are played all over the world by all countries. Pointing out the US while ignoring all other countries is humerous and demonstrates a lack of understanding.

If people are that upset about it, then how come I dont also see you guys going after Iran for supporting Hamas or Hezbullah, or pro Syrian government groups?

or is this just another I hate America threads?

Order from Chaos

Unless you are referring to the music but I dont think you are. Since we are on the topic of latin phrases though -

Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hock

and

Vox Populi Vox Deity

Both of those also come to mind with the mess going on.
