I would wager that nearly every large group that has something to gain or lose versus another group would make an effort to employ this tactic. The problem is how do you separate someone who is VERY passionate about their beliefs from someone who is payed to support that belief. Unless they straight up admit to it or there is verifiable documentation to substantiate it then how do you know who is who?

Even in the world on NON anonymity (facebook for example) groups such as the U.S. Air Force are employing false profiles to do this same tactic. Fight the arguments presented, not the person. The argument will speak for itself. You might even manage to convince that paid agent that they are wrong and are on the wrong side. Who knows?

Israel is not alone on this though. The US' activity was recently exposed by leaked memos from a consultant and here in Canada this same type of story hit the news about a year ago.

Although the internet is the greatest tool for communication ever created, it's creators didn't look far enough ahead.

The free sharing of knowledge and ideas was never supposed to include anything that challenged the status quo. Now that the proverbial 'cat is out of the bag' TPTB are desperatly trying to exert the same type of control here that they possess over every other type of media.

No surprise to me at all. With the Israelis record, i'd say this type of manipulation is essential for their 'damage control'.

The Israelis aren't the only ones doing this either, the US is one that has *admitted* several times that this is a propaganda method that they are increasingly utilising to shape public opinion on various issues.

I'd bet most of the developed world does it in fact.

Just be mindful of this when you see dozens of new member accounts created here, and short one or two line posts spew forth from them, around certain controversial topics.
