I was checking out some stuff and I came across this article...Life on this planet never ceases to amaze me...I guess mother nature can be quite creative when she wants to be...I like to think of her like a Macguyver type...she uses what she has been giving to th best of her abililities to create some facinating creatures...

This lined chiton, whose anterior end is to the right, lives about 50 feet below the water's surface near Whidbey Island, Washington.

Chitons first appeared on Earth more than 500 million years ago. But according to the fossil record, the oldest chitons with eyes didn't emerge until the last 25 million years, making their eyes among the most recent to evolve in animals.

A tiny sea mollusk uses eyes made of a calcium carbonate crystal to spot predators lurking above, researchers say of the first such rocky lenses found in the animal kingdom.
