For all those bitching and whining about gambling, these sites are about tournament play! This is an outrage!

Very true....tournament play.

I still wonder how much money is now "frozen" because we cannot even access our accounts? And is it honoring transactions that were in the process of happening?

I guess you can go a casino's website and still play their games, it will just be tough to near impossible to get money in/out of an account, right? I did have some banks/institutions allow me to deposit/withdraw monies to these sites but some never allowed it to begin with...

I will vote for whomever will allow internet poker again...lol.

But seriously, I'm in New Hampshire, our state motto is "Live Free Or Die". I go go down the road in NH and play in person and not get any slack because the racetrack it is at gives a tiny portion to charity....why dont the websites do that too?

Both Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker give money to charities. Whenever there is a major earthquake or disaster pokerstars and fulltilt allow their players to donate through the site, then the site will match what the players donated. Both sites also hold private charity tournaments for a number of other charities.

Damn, this is a major blow to the online gambling industry. Are people still able to login through the software to withdraw the money they had in their accounts?

I am still able to log in and play on real money games at absolute poker. Really don't understand why though. I say we hang on because it won't be long before we are able to play again. Any news from Bo Dog poker?

Thanks,
Pax

Ub is still running too, Ub and Absolute are owned by the same company. Not sure how long that will last though.

Bdog is still going and will continue to allow US players to play.

Poker isn't gambling.

The United States government is #1 enemy of freedom. More people need to understand that and get rid of them once and for all.

Since when do you own the entire country? You don't.

Quit acting like a fool.

Poker is not gambling.

True gambling, as in slots, table games, etc etc provides jobs, revenue, and tend to be a major benefit to the local economy.

It is sad to watch people in this thread who, for many other topics, support individual liberty, but flop on it as soon as a subject that they personally disagree with comes up. This is why this country is the way it is...this is why we imprison more people than any nation on earth...

well i am allowed back onFull Tilt, however i cannot play "real money" games. I can seemy balance, and they put up a message reassuring you that your funds are safe and that this issue will be resolved soon. Withdrawls and deposits are restricted to players in the USA.

People like you ruined this country. Gambling is already legal and highly regulated in almost every state, it is called the lottery and the states make a killing off of it. One has a much better chance of winning playing the slots than winning the lottery. These actions have nothing to do with the gambling aspect and every thing to do with the $$$ they aren't getting.

Freedom is America is gone and will never come back as long as there are more people like you than people like us.

This is disgusting instead of going forwards all these draconian laws do is take every backwards.

People need to remember a government is in place to serve people not control them or babysit.

Of course though too many are too inept to be responsible for themselves and the government feels it HAS to step in, in order to protect those that are too stupid to look after themselves.

As Franklin said

"Those who are willing to give up liberty for security deserve neither liberty nor security"

Gambling?
Poker is a game of skill played against other players. Your not playing the house, and therefore the house does not have an edge off you.
Yuo play against other players and it is mostly a game of numbers, statistics,, odds and percentages.
It is a mathematical based game of skill.
If you know what you are doing you will oprofit off weaker players.
I would definately not call it gambling.
What you may call luck, is called Variance in poker.
EG... If your get dealt AA and shove all in and are called by KK, you thinkg you should win. This is not true , the other player with the kings may hit a king, running cards for a flush or a straight.
Statistically you will lose this hand 1 in ecery 5 times. You may call it bad luck but it is just negative variance.

Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

61,642,944 games 0.082 secs 751,743,219 games/sec

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 81.946% 81.71% 00.23% 50371344 142614.00 [ AA ]
Hand 1: 18.054% 17.82% 00.23% 10986372 142614.00 [ KK ]

See?
Arguing that poker is gambling is a ridiculous claim made by people who really have no idea what they are talking about.
As previously stated , Lotteries and slots are gambling.

I can further back this up using a graph made from a site called sharkscope, com
This site records all tournaments played and displays the results for individual players. Win OR lose.
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/bbe393d9f3ad.jpg[/atsimg]

Are you telling me that this player got lucky over ~3k games?

Yes there are periods of sustained negative variance but that is to be expected.
Like if you flip a coin,, 50/50 chance of heads or tails, but if you do it 20 times its unlikey you will get exactly 10 heads and 10 tails.

Ive made 60k in online poker and I was hit hard by this. I loved to play as a part time player and I played MTTs. Poker is not a crime and it should be legalized, people talking about it being to addictive and what not. That is ridicules and so what if it is people buy a product legally every day that will have a 35 percent chance of killing them, and has the most addictive product in the planet in it. Tobacco. Thats legal. Life isn't fair of course but # it anyway. I legitimately hate this country. New sites will emerge in a couple of years once uncle fagot sam gets his cut.

The post above me is a perfect example of how poker is a long term, skilled game. If you play it like a retard you will lose just like in life but if you work hard and have discipline, bankroll management, than you are playing the game the right way.
