I recently saw The Donald get called a racist on tv.

I say we keep close track on who an dhow many times the media says the word racist.
I bet this thread will be 50000 pages long before the election.

So who is up for the task?

To me it seems the obama camp can only defend with oh he must be a racist.
then the media runs with it.
Happen last year and i bet you money it will happen again.
The race card will win it for obama again.
mark my words

It has never stopped.

Want to see birth certificate - racist
Want to stop illegal immigration - racist
Oppose Obamacare - racist
Question Obama in any form or fashion - racist

Even happens in every thread about Obama here on ATS.

Class warfare is a tool of Marxism, and so is race warfare. They were using both liberally during the campaign.

Are you serious.? Well hello........ Well you just started the racism ball rolling mate.
Well you have just made the first racist remark, so i guess we start counting from now.
The race card had nothing to do with Obama winning the last election. He was just the smartest of the two idiots running for the presidency, thats all.
And if most of you americans actually got of your arse and voted, then you might have got the president you wanted, but most of you americans dont vote, then you bitch that the other bloke got voted in?????? So you have anything to complain about. Next time instead of complaining, VOTE, or get over it!!!

Might as well count the stars, mate. I doubt we could keep track even if we wanted too.

I noticed Whoopie calling Donald a racist too, and I wasn't surprised one bit, lol.

How about keeping track of how many times racist people get away with being racist just to even the score. I understand how people that do not like Obama purely out of reasons aside from race can have a problem with race being tossed at them but the fact that most keep claiming there is NO RACISM involved kind of makes them seem like they are just talking out of their backside. Why are the non-racist Obama haters not at all concerned with all the actual racists out there making you look bad instead of the people pointing it out? There is more than enough racism towards Obama for people to deny.

The gig is up, we know are vote doesn’t matter, we are aware that whoever becomes president will be nothing but a puppet to the rich. Gas is suspected to reach prices of 200 a barrel, thus destroying our economy and giving us a first class ticket back to the Stone Age. The great election please, the only way ill tune into this is if an alien runs, other than that im stay following the knowledge of Extinction Level Events that will be occuring soon.

I wasn't aware the claims of racism ever ended.

It's an easy go to argument when one has nothing left of value to argue with.

It is a really easy argument to make when you are inundated with racism aimed at the Obama family on a daily basis as well. Surely you are not suggesting that all claims of racism are crying wolf? Some of us get it emailed and texted to us from our Republican/TEA party/Rush Limbaugh listening friends all the time and still barely ever point it out. But to see people get so defensive as to pretend it is not really out there is perplexing.

I think a lot of it is overblown for political purposes. I think it is politically beneficial to play the race card every time some wayward critique of the Obama administration or his policies are leveled.

I find it ridiculous that democrats get away with racist things like this:

And no one calls them on it.

As a Hispanic Tea Party member who still holds a green card I find this kind of generalization offensive.

Or how they treat any black conservative:

From Chauncey DeVega-Alternet.org

As you know, I find black garbage pail kids black conservatives fascinating not because of what they believe, but rather because of how they entertain and perform for their White Conservative masters.

This kind of crap is dispicable racism, but often overlooked because it's the left, and no one on the left can be racist right?

Maybe in some cases you are right about it being overblown. From where I am sitting, it is starting to appear over-denied.

Those sure are 3 really compelling examples of what might be interpreted as racism. Shame.

What were you saying about despicable racist crap that is overlooked? Tell me all about how there is none on the right again. Rush Limbaugh tell any of his funny funny Michelle Obama eating ribs jokes today? I know he had some great ones yesterday because besides not being racist, he is also not at all months behind with his lame jokes.

The problem with accusations of racism that are sometimes levelled against outspoken critics of Obama, is that it is an unfalsifiable slur and the motivation for such a slur appears to be, in many cases, a tactic to stifle criticism and debate.

Of course, there will be many, many people who have a heightened dislike of Obama purely because of his skin colour, but, unless their prejudice is explicitly outlined in the words that they use, it is unreasonable to assume that the motivation for their criticism is racially based.

The cries of ''racism'' are usually nothing more than an ad hominem attack to belittle or slur an opponent. The burden of proof rests with the accuser, so if someone can't provide proof that someone's motivation for criticising Obama is racially charged, then you have to wonder why they'd make the claim in the first place.

Having perused several partisan political debates on ATS, one thing is certainly quite striking: the level of antipathy, anger and hostility that is hurled back and forth between the more ardent liberals and conservatives on these boards, which I guess is a microcosm of the ''political playground'' in the USA.

Any heated or over the top denouncements of Obama are more likely to have a political bent to them, rather than racial, and that is where the ad hominem aspect of these slurs come in to play; it is far more cutting to say ''you just don't like a black man in the White House'', than it is to say ''you just don't like a Democrat/liberal in the White House''.

I have seen comments about Obama on ATS that I would consider to be overtly race-based, but no worse than the sexist comments that are posted about Sarah Palin ( just type in ''Sarah Palin'' and ''bitch'' into the ATS search feature, and you'll see what I mean. ).

I'm speaking as someone who isn't American, who is of no rigid political persuasion or ideology, and who considers the POTUS to wield very little power, and consequently, I don't think that Obama is any worse or better than most of the previous recent incumbents in that position. I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin, either
.

Answer to your question, I think these idiots come out at election time as they are attracted to the camera and the hype like a pack of brainless moths attracted to a cars bright headlights.
I think the people and the politicans get caught in the headlights and forget the world around them,
But like most moths(politicians' and people) they end up just following one another until they all get smashed against the car of lifes headlight and their head ends up near their arse, and the last thing that usually comes out the moths(polititians/ peoples) mind is their arseholes.
And it seems that the moth that survives usually ends up as president.

Did I at any point say there is no racism toward Obama?

No.

What I'm saying is that painting everyone ONE COLOR just because a bunch of racist morons are loud(as they usually are) does not make them kin just because they may share a policy opinion with me.

I can find many more examples of the left showing their racism too. But I won't because I don't have an interest in calling every one on the left racist just because a few of them are, or have said racist things. Regardless of how you and others may spin it, racism is NOT mainstream. It is NOT the odor of prevailing political winds.

The more attention is given to the idiotic examples you posted(directed at those culpable, not at you) the more racism by manufacture will cloud the discussion of the issues we are supposed to be having. Like, how the hell is the country going to pay it's bills? How are we going to restore confidence in our bond market? How are we going to grow the private sector in order to get people back to work?

I firmly believe that racism, as it is currently being manufactured in politics, is a tool used to achieve an agenda that has nothing to do with race and everything to do with lining the pockets of crooks. At the same time it gets rather tiring listening to people call me a racist because I don't agree with Obama's policies, or being called a race traitor because I don't support people who illegally enter the country. Race politics are stupid games and I ain't playin' no more.
