I’m honestly shocked at all the negative responses here. What a pessimistic and paranoid lot we have on this site!
Do you think it is a selfish idea? and why?
The idea in and of itself is certainly not selfish, but it all depends on your intention. If you’re doing it because you want to give another being
a chance to experience this wonderful and exciting world, then it’s hardly a selfish act. It all depends on how you raise them, really. If you teach
them to love and respect others, to see the good in everything, and not to be afraid of really living, then you shouldn’t worry about bringing them
up in these tumultuous times.
It’s all about perspective. It’s like Hamlet said, “Why then, ‘tis none to you, for nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
To me it is a prison.”
So to everyone here who is saying that it’s not worth it to put a child through this hellish prison, then of course, if that is how you see it, then
that is what it will be. If, on the other hand, you see it as some grand adventure to be experienced, then perhaps it may be a bit more enjoyable.
Do you think it is a wise idea (economically etc)? and why?
If you can afford it, then sure. If you’re going to be struggling to put healthy food on the table every night, then don’t.
Do you think it is your duty as a human being to carry on preserve your DNA in future generations? and why?
Perhaps if I was possessed of unparalleled beauty, remarkable intelligence, exceptional health, and other desirable traits, then yes, but since my
genes are really nothing special, I feel no duty to preserve them. I do, however, think I have a duty as a human being to bring to life another human
being who will help to make the world a better place.
