SANA, Yemen — More than 100,000 demonstrators returned to the streets of the Yemeni capital, Sana, on Friday, some chanting for President Ali Abdullah Saleh and, about two miles away, many against.

And thats just 100,000 in the capital alone. Im not sure how many others there were across the country, The articles are saying tens of thousands support the president, but I would think there would be the same amount, if not more that oppose him.

Yemen's Saleh defiant as desertions mount

SANAA (AFP) – President Ali Saleh Abdullah stood defiant as Yemen's elected leader in a speech to his supporters on Friday despite a growing list of desertions and mounting pressure on him to resign.

Im not 100% sure what desertions mean in that article, but I think it means people in his government are leaving him. I think I heard a week or 2 ago that groups within Yemens military are starting to desert the government to.
