NYT: Vegetable Bandits strike

Every day we hear a little louder, the quiet rumble of civilization collapsing:

From Source:

The high price of produce, especially for tomatoes after the deep winter freezes, has attracted more than heightened attention from consumers. A ring of sophisticated vegetable bandits was watching, too. Late last month, a gang of thieves stole six tractor-trailer loads of tomatoes and a truck full of cucumbers from Florida growers.

Lock and load. Grow some food. Pretty soon the trucks wont be coming.

Many fruits and vegies are getting to be more expensive than meat.
Cucumbers, just about $3 for just one. Not even organic.
With last years freezing, there are signs at the grocery store about the prices being so high. Now the high price of transportation is going to figure into the high price too.

For one pork chop, less than $2.

I would hate to be a vegetarian, it's too expensive now.

Amen brother! Grow food and be prepared to defend it should the need arise. I have a friend who has had their garden pilfered while they were sleeping.

There's nothing like working your tail off to grow some veggies only to come out after they've ripened and see they have been stolen...
