The link between earthquakes, seismic activity and volcanic eruptions is pretty well established - if not perfectly explained in mechanistic terms for every occasion.

Interestingly, the Japan Meteorological Agency warned on April 10 that the country's 20 volcanoes were activated by the March 11 earthquake - and that another big quake was coming. There was a 7.0 M in Japan the next day.

April 10, 2011: Japan government : 20+ volcanoes activated by the March 11 earthquake

Japan’s Meteorological Agency on Friday warned the country’s 20 volcanoes has become alive due to the massive March 11 earthquake, and a study said earthquake over 9.0-magnitude might hit Japan.

The Agency said volcanic explosion occurred after earthquake several times in history and people should maintain vigilance against this tendency.

A strong earthquake of magnitude of 7.0 occurred Monday 11 April.

I just put this on the on the "Putting It All Together" thread by westcoast (see previous posts by westcoast on this one which refers to this thread), but thought I would put it here too so different people may see it.

I found this from Edgar Cayce that refers to Vesuvius and Pelle. Does anyone know if there has been greater activity on Vesuvius or Pelle recently?

Source

"If there is the greater activities in the Vesuvius, or Pelee then the southern coast of California and the areas between Salt lake and the southern portions of Nevada may expect within the three months following same, an inundation by the earthquakes."

I found a couple of sites with info on Versuvius. But I cant find any recent activity. I will keep looking into it though.

Mount Vesuvius is one of the world's most dangerous volcanoes. The volcano has an eruption cycle of about 20 years, but the last eruption was in 1944.

So I am guessing that we will see another eruption sometime in the near fututre.

Yes, it definitely looks like it is way overdue. Thanks!

So... when is the big blow?

Actually, it's tomorrow night at 7:22 pm. I instructed the hotspot to migrate to a location directly under your house before it blows, so we wouldn't have to put up with any more INSANE QUESTIONS NO ONE CAN ANSWER!!!!!!!

But zorgon, I thought you knew this already.... One more like that and we are going to revoke your L33T status!

Thanks for the link, but I can't read Italian and my Google Translate is getting an error when I try it.
If I can get it to work that looks like a good site for info on Vesuvius!

take a look at Clear Lake Volcanic Field lot of activity there. Could the swarm near LVC be related to this swarm?

I've been to Mount Versuvious, and they let you climb right to the top, it was amazing

Just hope they don't allow visitors up there when they think it is about to blow lol

Hmmm well someone used a TBM under the Belagio and cut through a skad of cables... was quite amuzing the way they tried to cover it in the press...

No I don't know that no one can tell. I sorta thought that was the point of these EQ threads was to determine when it might be likely to pop..

Otherwise it is a lot of fear mongering for a speculative hobby. I see many posts from people that are deeply concerned that it will happen soon... so my question was fair game

Personally I am more concerned with all the rumblings and other weird earth noises people have been hearing at barely audible tones... more feeling them than hearing them... and the huge releases of methane like in the gulf oil spill and the mud volcano off of Redondo Beach that killed millions of fish followed by a group of quakes in the Gulf of California

I think all that gas venting is important... and most likely responsible for all those weird animal deaths in the early part of the year. The methane replaced the oxygen and killed the fish and likely flocks of birds. I know that the Gulf spill was a man made accident but the release up methane was 35%ish higher than it should have been... and that may even have been a factor in the accident... pressure wise

Kudos! For additional info doubters might want to look at the work of Bernard Chouet, a swiss expert on volcanoes and the relationship between earthquakes and eruptions. He predicted the eruption of Mt. St. Helens, Redoubt and others using earthquake data! You are SPOT ON!! I'm guessing the govt has shut him up along with other experts who are well aware of what is going on. Blessings to all!

I find this one interesting... seems to be a very quiet spot earthquake wise

18-APR-2011 15:38:03 32.45 -65.71 4.6 10.0 NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN

Seems more and more quakes are showing up in very unusual spots

WHOA! ...You're right! 76 EQ there today so far - all around 1-2.5 M, and all very shallow - 2-3 km deep. Interesting...

Even if the worst case scenario were to happen, would it really be bad?

I mean... even if a 7.5 were to hit the region... boohoo... wouldn't do much damage.

Even if an eruption were to occur, it would be a ``small one``... boohoo yet again since people would be able to evacuate in time.

So unless there's really a supervolcano ready for an ELE eruption, it's not really that big of a deal.

The list for today. This area is always quaking, nothing really unusual here.

Hmmm. I have lots of reasons to monitor this stuff, especially:

1. Like to know how things work, and why.

2. Helps me to get in touch with, rekindle ancient ways of knowing - as in, "There's been a disruption in the Force, Luke." ...I cross-check the records (EQ's, magnetic field, etc) and compare what's happening with my own mental and physical states, my animals' behaviors - and it's quite revealing. Makes me feel connected.

Don't be such a spoilsport.
