Yeah i've been on this forum for awhile. I saw a bunch of "How to create a bob" threads awhile ago, and i haven't had the cash until now. And now i can't find those threads! lol

I've just been stock piling on free pdf's and dryer lint til now lol

Here's a good place to start with a very comprehensive list: How to put together a bugout bag

en.wikipedia.org...

To make money from people stocking up on supplies?
To make money from people wanting security?

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the threads about this topic are for that purpose.

I'm not making any preparations because nothing is going to happen. It's really an irrational frenzy. People are just super paranoid and a look back at history shows this is not a recent trend. It stems from a lack of coherent in-depth understanding of economics, the world in general, and human psychology. There isn't going to be a global collapse of the economy and society leaving a wake of chaos and starvation in its path. Anything big enough to effect the entire world economy such that there is not enough food, water, and basics is going to be so devastating, some water supplies, food supplies, and other stuff isn't going to even matter. An asteroid strike, a super volcano, or nuclear war might be big enough to mess with our prosperity. Those are highly unlikely and the latter would be survivable for most people left afterwards without survival preparation. In case of an asteroid or global disaster, you're doomed either way. Otherwise, everything is going to get better and better for those who live under government regimes where there are still some attributes of free markets producing wealth and scientific advances. Technology will advance and standards of living will continue to improve. If you want to prepare for the collapse of the dollar buy silver with your savings. Raw earth materials will never run out. Peak oil is the end of cheap oil not of oil itself. Alternative energies are being developed rapidly which can replace them. Nuclear could do it alone worst case scenario where there is no other viable alternative. (Oil is not only easy to extract and use but there is so much of it that it produces a volume of energy far exceeding what any other source can give us now). In short, there are no good reasons for me to make survival preparations. We are living in the most promising and exciting times. I look forward to the future although I know that there will be bumps along the way.

I am not doing any of that stuff simply because I don't believe the world is about to end. However, I live in the Colorado Rocky Mountains so I am prepared for a lot more than most simply because it is a wise idea in case of weather emergencies. Always plan on being snowed in for a while or just not wanting to go out because of bad weather. Our family of 6 could get by for quite a while without ever leaving the house.

I agree with those that say there will be plenty of "unused" resources available - you just have to get to them quickly.

- RV/Motorhomes (look around your neighborhood...they are yours for the taking via finding the keys, hot-wiring)
- Weapons (Police stations, Houses with USMC/Army/Navy flags waived will probably have weapons)
- Walmart, Target, Big 5, Sports Authority, REI, etc (Get to these quick if you have one nearby)
*** Side note: Cell phones might be useless. CB radios, long range walkie-talkies are your best choice***

In the case of an EMP (electro magnetic pulse) you will want to have some means of transportation if our vehicles wont start. For example:
- Classic cars, pre-electronic fuel injection (less electronics on board, more likely to function after an EMP)
- Horses
- Bicycles

Transportation is CRITICAL. Most people in the cities work 20-30 miles away from home and commute everyday. If you're at work and your kids are at school, you're probably #ed IF your vehicle doesn't start due to an EMP. Second, if it DOES start, good luck "buying" gas if you don't have enough to get home.
Otherwise, you're going to be forced to walk home (everyones first instinct) and who knows how long its going to take you to get there, especially without supplies, wearing business attire (high heels do nothing for you except make you look sexy, so carry a good pair of running shoes or hiking boots in your car along with other supplies).

LAW ENFORCEMENT: Be careful. You are walking targets because you have weapons, and people that dislike you will try to take advantage of the situation. Cops have balls because they have guns, and backup nearby at all times. when SHTF you will only have 16 friends (unless you have extra magazines) to back you up so use them wisely.

DISABLED/OBESE/USELESS EXCUSES FOR HUMANS: Sorry, you've spent all your time watching Fox News and playing Call of Duty and WoW, beating off to midget porn all day and your SSI checks are useless at this point. Guess what happens to you? You guessed right. You're PWNED in RL.

Seriously if you have nothing prepared, you must at LEAST be physically able to walk/hike 10+ miles (or more depending where you live) so if that's too much for you, I suggest buying a used bike, backpack like Camelbacks with water reservoirs or at least a couple of water bottles, protein bars, coc aine (for much needed energy boost), marijuana, cigarettes, small flask with liquor.

Maybe I'll give more info later. At this point just realize that your ability to survive is HIGHLY dependent on your physical state. Survival of the fittest.

Perhaps 90% of the US population being wiped out (by means of natural selection, survival of the fittest) is not such a bad thing. Too many useless Americans taking up resources, creating waste, DEPENDING on welfare and taxes to survive, thinking they have the "right" to be cared for and that Government will always be there for them, and never giving anything back to society. Good riddance.

If you are prepared and survive, then GREAT! You are the ones who will be responsible for establishing a new way of life in the US and around the world. You are intelligent, capable, problem solvers, and highly efficient. You, along with everyone else who took the time and effort to prepare and SURVIVE through the initial 30 days (the worst) will see that life will slowly but surely become enjoyable again and we will have a better life after all the GARBAGE is taken out

We will show the world that we wont be taken without a fight. We won't give up, and those who do give up will meet their fate and honestly we don't care for those types anyway.

Bluetrainwreck

I think you have been watching too many movies.

The basics of survival are food, water and shelter. Secondary are cleanliness, medicine and community.

If TSHTF do you think driving around and shooting in some pointless, lawless, armageddon road trip is going to help you survive?

When there is some sort of disaster, rule of law is usually reestablished in hours or days. Check out some history. Disasters happen several times a year around the world and looters/rogues end up in jail or lynched pretty quickly.
