Pretty straight forward, by exploiting people they conquered.
All Empire's have been built on the blood of the vanquished and the controlled.

What The British did is by no means unique and they were relatively tolerant, but they were very, very efficient and ordered.
Imagine the death, destruction and absolute mayhem left behind if The Spanish or French had conquered the lands Britain had?
Because one thing is certain, if Britain hadn't they would have, it was simply the way things were done then.

And yet still people use the standards and values of today to judge the actions of yesterday.
At least try to consider the facts in context to the time the events occurred.

If you intend to continue to vent your racist, anti-British spleen here on ATS at least try and learn some basic facts and try to construct something like a coherent and reasoned arguement, spewing indoctrinated claptrap like that has done you no favours at all.

Just supposing for a moment that you had a working plan to kill off the United Kingdom I bet it would unfold exactly like the nightmare that we in this once proud nation are living through at this very moment! First of all you stick security cameras on every street corner so you can pry on what your people are up to. Its easier to keep track of people when they don't move about too much so you place the price of oil so high that it becomes unaffordable to ordinary people. Then you get them fighting amongst themselves in the name of terrorism before stripping them of their savings and security by way of the bankers. Once the people are truly confused and wondering whats going on you start to make millions unemployed taking away their safety nets and making them totally reliant on those who are planning their downfall... To cap it all off you then force those on the scrapheap to do the jobs they used to do or you refuse to give them their unemployment benefits, something that their tax's had paid into until they were made redundant...
And while they are doing this to us they deflect attention from their actions by bringing up such diversions as immigration, bail outs and the nonsense that fills our TV screens on a nightly basis. For gods sake, with all the sh*te going on in this country national newspapers still placed Jeremy Clarksons marriage problems on their front pages!!!!
Unless people wake up soon the United Kingdom will become a nation of slaves, all working for a pittance or their benefits, while the top eschelons such as surgeons, doctors etc, will flee abroad to where their talents will be appreciated.

Hear hear. Our planet's wealth is held and controlled by the top 2% of the population. They throw scraps to the lower 98%, while strategically keeping us all divided through nationalism, racism, organized religion, etc. for centuries. We work for them, in a cleverly disguised form of slavery while they successfully direct our anger and hatred away from where it should be, them...and towards each other. Ever notice how the world leaders, and corporate elitists all hang out together and party, then go back to their countries and spread fear and hatred of the very countries who's leaders they partied with?? Right in front of our faces. We're being played.

There should be no borders, no nationality. We should all be able to travel where we want without being seen as an "outsider", and unwelcome. And MOST of all, we need to strip that top 1% of their wealth, it belongs to ALL of us. If mankind worked together, instead of using so much of our resources to fight each other, there would be no hunger or famine. There would be no reason for masses of people to flood one area looking to make a living. There would be a living to be made anywhere.

We have a similar problem in the United States, so the UK is not the only country that has these issues. I do not know how immigration can be fixed.

If you are unable to answer why Cameron is 40 years too late, why raise the point? How could Cameron have raised this issue 40 years ago. It would have been 5 years old. Of course, he could have raised the point earlier in his political career but as I have mentioned, those who have attempted to raise this have been hounded by the liberal left and called racist.

Just because this is an issue that should have been debated seriously and openly for decades does not diminish the need for debate today.

At least we are starting to have a debate and this issue has been recognised as one that many in the country are concerned about.

Thanks for calling me and many others who are posting in the thread dumb for falling for Cameron's speech. None of us have any free will or opinions of your own, and can only follow what our Prime Minister says.

This is a serious and real issue to many in this thread and the country as a whole, and many who post on ATS have free will and opinions of their own, and are not sheep to be led. Rather than insult members, take the time to see what they have posted in the past, and realise that what they post are based on real world experiences.

Yes, there are many things in the country today and all out leaders over the past 40 years are to blame, but there have never been a serious and open discussions on the issue of immigration, and there are some well written posts in the thread that are far from racist, but explain in a clear and open way, the issues that many in the UK feel.

Since Cameron's speech i head from a close freind they are planning to stop foreign students from doing any kinds of job and the previous 20 hour limit will be scrapped too.

Can anyone with more knowledge about it verify this?

You are under some misguided impression that a sense of pride in the country of one's birth is racist? I was born in England. My mother is English, my father was Scottish. I have been born into a nation rich in heritage that I am proud of. The ideals and principles that this country represents are my birthright, the define PART of who and what I am. I am proud of the achievements of my country, and ashamed at some of it's darker moments. Do you remember the film Gladiator, where Commodus and his sister are talking about 'the good of Rome'?

England is an idea that has embedded itself into the heart of its native population based on history, experience, culture, priicples, traditions. It is an idea that has held this country together as an entity for so long.
Please explain this concept of 'Racism' to me. As far as I am aware, there is only one race: The human race. If you are referring to variations based on colour and appearance, that is more to do with geography and ethnicity. People might look and sound different, but they are still of my race. So don't dare accuse me of racism. I could just as easily argue that your presumption of 'white people' thinking themselves superior (based on your own biased presuppositions) speaks volumes about your own issues with people of a certain colour. That doesn't make you racist though. After all, there is only one race. Is your argument against patriotism?
