New Technique Poised to Untangle Brain's Complexity

Scientists have moved a step closer to being able to develop a computer model of the brain after developing a technique to map both the connections and functions of nerve cells in the brain together for the first time.

A new area of research is emerging in the neuroscience known as 'connectomics'. With parallels to genomics, which maps the our genetic make-up, connectomics aims to map the brain's connections (known as 'synapses'). By mapping these connections -- and hence how information flows through the circuits of the brain -- scientists hope to understand how perceptions, sensations and thoughts are generated in the brain and how these functions go wrong in diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia and stroke.

Imagine the capabilities, good and bad when we understand exactly how the brain and its thought processes work. We could grasp and treat severe mental illnesses a lot easier and understand human psychology at a much more in depth level. On another level it would make it a lot easier to to manipulate how people think and behave for many different industries and agendas.

For instance: Advertising, Political View, Morales, Behavioural Patterns, Ability to learn.. the possibilities are endless. As soon as you understand exactly how the brain functions in a way you can observe as data, you can then begin to understand what kind of input you need to create whatever effect in the brain you want to make happen.

The end game , goal, bulls eye, target... I would imagine, is how to manipulate a perpetual "non relative" infinite orgasmic pleasure with dopamine and such.......

Do this in a map on a computer, and create a natural brain chemistry that will do this... hehe.... hehe.

Imagine the horror, the absolute devastation of realizing that you are not a person ... that your mind was a construct of programming - a simulation - and that the concepts and 'feelings' you have been pondering since you can remember were all 'programmed' and monitored by scientists, and computer engineers....

If this brain is set up in a virtual environment and then 'started' I couldn't help but feel sorry for it.... is that screwed up or what?

We are at the cusp of real artificial intelligence. The next step in human evolution..

Once the entire brain is mapped out, together with the complete mapping of the human genome, we will use this with nanotechnology to create a new AI. It will be exceptionally far superior to us biological beings...

It's the only way to ensure "human" survival for millennia to come.... The Earth won't be around forever....

This right here will unite religion and science. The depths of the mind are 10,000 more magnificent than these strict and linear scientists could ever imagine. When they understand fully how the mind works, they will have little choice but to accept that both the creationists and the evolutionists were right. They will realize that we are programmed for spirituality, and the complexity and intelligence of the data before them will be so immense, that it will put Einstein's intelligence to shame without breaking a sweat, and at that point, they will have absolutely no choice but to conclude that it wasn't evolution that single-handedly created this programming, but that its mere existence was destined to occur by a creator(s) through evolution.
